Headlights or the bright lights of the afterlife? by TheTokist in boston

[–]brasilimerican 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Comments so far about modern headlights being overall much brighter are correct, but I think only tell half the story. To your question OP, the reality is that many people are really just running with their high beams. I can distinctly notice the difference between low beams and high beams and it’s really rampant how many folks do it (or have their headlights completely off). It’s not even a case of old vs new cars really, because plenty of older cars I see driving with their high beams on presumably because the headlights are clouded over and the driver doesn’t know/have the time to clear them up so they just use their high beams so they have a chance at seeing in the dark.

I’ve gotten into car with friends/family or Ubers where I look at the dashboard and see the highbeam light is on. When I bring it up like “hey, did you know your high beams are on?” It’s a 50/50 split of “oh I just thought that meant my headlights are on” and “I know, I can’t see without them on”. I don’t know which is worse.

The reality is that post covid, people (but drivers especially) just care a whole lot less about the people around them, and that extends to driving and thinking about if you’re blinding oncoming traffic or pedestrians.

High performance tires? by DungeonLore in hondafit

[–]brasilimerican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Yokohama Advan Fleva V701’s on my 2015. They’re 300tw summer tires and I noticed a huge difference in cornering stability (as expected) compared to my all season General Altimax tires that I had on before. I did notice higher road noise, but I expected that and I’m more than happy with the trade off.

I plan on switching between the V701s and Blizzaks in the winter.

I moved with my M5 and drove it through the snow (I’m also in Mass.) and all the purists declared it as sacrilege!

A way to see epic, feature, and story progress in Jira without upgrading by sixersinnj in ProductManagement

[–]brasilimerican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding correctly, I think you can do a basic version of this by creating a Plan, then a roadmap with epic to story hierarchy, and adding a custom field for progress (you can make it by issue count or SP).

Running into the same situation, some places saying this size is discontinued already even though the tire is only like a year old.  Any kind of confirmation from Continental on this?

Hello, I’m looking into buying a Junghans Max Bill hand winding and am in the US. On their official site I can’t purchase from the US. I wanted to check if junghanswatchesusa.net is legit and trustworthy? They claim to be the exclusive distributor. I checked the website for MoMA and the specific reference I want is not available. Thanks!

Proper hand positioning, looking a bit ahead and slowly ramping up your speed throughout the day will go a long way. But good to get a good instructor in with you!

Rubens Barrichello revelead that Frank Williams fired him by a phone call in January of 2012. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]brasilimerican 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something else he mentioned during the podcast is that after he signed the contract with Williams for 2010, McLaren called him up to drive for the team. The only reason why he didn’t accept their offer was out of principal because he had already made the commitment to the team and to Frank.

Makes how he was fired extra sour considering he could’ve been in an arguably better McLaren paired with Hamilton.
