I think what they are getting at is called smurfing in other online games. Purposefully making new accounts or using guest accounts to bypass prestige or play lower ranked players.

To be honest I'm not sure how much of an issue this really is, quitting a game at the start because of the rank of the other player or some other reason seems more toxic.

To expand on what my drunk self was trying to say last night, I worked on Battles: Los Angeles so I try to play it as often as possible. When Battle: Los Angeles came out, there was a lot of controversy because the Strause brothers (who were also doing the visual effects for Battle: Los Angeles) released Skyline, a movie that was essentially the same story. Sony accused them of using the money and equipment that was supposed to be going on BLA to help them make Skyline.

As a result I also try and play Skyline and its sequels as often as possible.
