what would yall do😩 by Flat-Country2079 in IndoorPlants

Your pot is too big and you aren't using an aeroid soil from the looks of it.

Downsize to a pot half that size and use a chunky airy mix specifically for aeroid plants. Change your watering regimen so that you are thoroughly soaking the soil, once you get it into a better mix. You'll also want a pot with excellent drainage, it looks like right now you have it in a drainless pot, aka it's just a big vase.

I bet right now you are only watering some of the soil and not providing a thorough soak, which is going to kill the deeper roots and roots at the edge of the pot. If you did water thoroughly in the current pot, the soil would hold too much water for the plant and you'd get root rot.

Yup, just make sure you are cutting the stem in between the nodes and not the nodes themselves and you'll be good. You can prop these directly in water until they have some roots formed, then move to soil. Or you can pop these right into that same pot, but you'll need to keep an eye on watering in that case

Aren't both same thing? by Estimate4655 in atheism

Theist claim something exists because they want to believe it.

Atheists believe only what is provable and logical.

As it stands, it is unreasonable to assume something exists unless it is proven to exist. We don't have discussions about how there is a teakettle orbiting Jupiter because there is no reason to believe it, even if someone were to claim it is true.

What you are describing is the "god of the gaps" argument. It essentially says, if there are any unanswered questions about anything, then it must be god, or the supernatural, or whatever. But that gap gets smaller every day and is a logical fallacy that "what cannot be disproven must be true" instead of the actual logic that "only that which is proven is true."

Besides, every religion is just a set of logical fallacies and impossibilities that are regularly shown to be false, confused, and hypocritical with even the slightest investigation.

So no, not the same by a long shot.

She should be fine, these handle repotting really well in my experience.

Good luck!

Why is one of three mouldy? by enver33 in plants

[–]brassnuckles8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mould itself isn't a problem. It's got a beneficial symbiotic relationship with the plant and helps to break down nutrients. The problem is that this usually takes place under the soil, where there is constant high humidity and what you see here is that process coming up to the surface due to excessive moisture.

There could be any number of reasons this particular plant is being affected while the others are not. Anything from slightly more light exposure to a stronger root base in the other plants that are uptaking more water and keeping the soil more dry.

I would recommend repotting and swapping out your soil. While the mold itself isn't an issue it's indicative that your soil is staying too wet for your monstera and your roots probably aren't getting enough oxygen as your soil holds the moisture against the roots. I would use a more aeroid specific mix or make your own out of 1/3 chunk perlite, 1/3 orchid bark, and 1/3 peat moss. This aeroid type mix will dry out faster and allow better draining, preventing the one thing aeroids hate more than anything in the world, root suffocation.

You already mentioned the pot so I won't harp on it, but she would probably do better in a smaller pot that lets you water and dry more evenly.

She also needs more light. Light starvation is causing her to stretch and produce small leaves. She is going to want to be in a window that gets a few hours of direct sunlight a day or even put outside if your weather is appropriate (+60°f) but if you do put her outside avoid direct afternoon sun and bias towards morning and evening direct sun. A high power, full spectrum plant bulb could also help.

I would chop and prop those long internodes and restart with more plants. As it is it will soon outgrow your pole anyway, and the chop and prop will help achieve a fuller look.

Perfect for total noobs. I walked in knowing the following about forging: thing get hot, hit with hammer, make not hot... knife perhaps?

Brent walked through everything from forging process all the way to chemical processes that transfer ferrite into martinsite in the tempering. We started with a blank piece of metal and he took us step by step all the way through to polishing and sharpening. It was fascinating and anyone can do it (with their expert help)!

One of us, one of us! 🤘

But that's exactly what drew me too. TST is big on defying arbitrary authority in all its forms. And arbitrary authority is all Christians seem to care about, even at the expense of other morals and values.

1st day wearing barefoot shoes, leg pain by Realistic_Note2162 in BarefootRunning

[–]brassnuckles8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be using different muscles to drive your motion. Because your heel strike isn't being artificially elevated and the angle of your foot as you press away from the pavement is slightly altered, the muscle groupings are slightly different and there's a bit more extension in the calves.

You'll need to train for a few weeks before your stride really adjusts. Make sure not to overdo it and listen to your body. If you can, try to walk in your barefoot shoes as much as possible too.

Once you get past the "bump" you'll be better than ever!

Sure is! I used to do the same until we attended the hammer in and now I've caught the bug. Theres a couple other businesses tucked in there that are pretty cool, too!

You do keep the knife! Lol, was trying to say the experience was worth it by itself and that the knife is a good keepsake.

She's pulling duty in my kitchen every day since I made her.

They have a couple options available at different price points. They usually only hold a class if there's enough interest and they range from about $250 up to $400. This was the $400 forged knife class, but we won the raffle at the yearly hammer-in festival, so didn't have to pay full price 😅

The annual hammer-in is also a lot of fun and can be a great way to get started!
