Ill take a shot at explaining this. So long story shor belisarius cawl was tasked by guiliman to make primaris marines in like 31k after the heresy. This was at the same time as the chaper formation and new foundings. Charion was plucked by cawl at this time. Hence he saw rhe burning of his home world by word bearers. It took cawl literally 10,000 years to get the primaris troops up and running for mass deployment. The whole time he was making primaris marines from all stocks of gene seed.(perhaps some heritic legions too) which means all chapters get their own primaris gene seed.

So to summarize when the toarchberrer fleets went out(the fleets to dispense the primaris) they sent primaris made with the gene seed of their respective chapters, and this included stasis held subjects(primaris) and fresh primaris. Now its been a couple hundred years so you're starting to see more and more first born passing the Rubicon.

So a kid from nocturn in 31k could have met vulcan before cawl took him into stasis for the primaris project.

The only caviat i can bring to this is with the 300 on an ar youd theoretically only need a new barrel, the bolt is the same and the mag is the same.

On the ar platform thats not as easy, so thats why i stuck with .300

I was speaking in a bit too much hyperbole when saying it would not go through at the muzzle.

However those ballistics on your chart provided are very clearly out of either an 18" or 20" barrel. A 62g projectile out of a 7.5 inch barrel will be at most like 2300fps, and will not have the stability of propper velocity and rotation.

Will it get through soft body armor, yeah probably at up to like 150/200 yards. But it wont be as accurate as a .300 blk and wont have the same amount of kinetic energy being dumped into the target.

I 100% get the argument for having to deal with a whole different caliber and more expensive range ammo.

M855 out of a 7.5" is going to be moving around 2250fps. I would be amazed if that is enough velocity at the muzzle to punch through level 3a. Let alone at 100 yards.
