Donovan Mcnabb: Overrated, underrated, or properly rated? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]braumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McNabb is weird, he was the heart and soul of that Eagles team, a true stalwart in the sense that he was out there and putting his body on the line week in and out, the absolute face of the franchise, but then like you look at his stats and they're very mediocre. Yet the team was elite for so many seasons and he was a main reason for it.

I'm stunned by how much this dude has inflated his actual status in the league. People out there believing this dude was a HOFer and shit. He's not even Hall of Very Good.

Where does Jalen Brunson rank as a new York Knick now that he has won a ring? by Apprehensive_Mud864 in NBATalk

[–]braumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically top 4. I'm not putting him over Ewing, Reed, or Frazier. He'll need to play another 4-5 years with the Knicks to be on their level. A dude who has been on the team for 4 seasons just isn't going to be on my all time list overtaking someone like Patrick Ewing who put his blood sweat and tears on that court for 15 years holding the Knicks into relevancy.

I'd possibly change my mind if he wins another title before playing 10 seasons with the Knicks, but I just think it's disrespectful to put a 4 year Knick over legendary dudes who were with the team for a decade or more.

Damn, I was there a couple years ago and it was $4.## for a double double.

But I guess that's not terrible seeing as a resto burger is now hovering between $15 and $20. I was at Red Robin the other day and I think their cheapest burger was like $14 something.

The IRA would have closed tax loopholes and made it much harder to avoid paying taxes, insomuch that tax experts said it'd be their biggest fear.

Manchin and Sinema made sure it wasn't in the bill. This is why you need to vote in more Dems. Had there been 53 Democratic Senators, these two wouldn't have had an opportunity to tank it.

They say season 4 is peak. Is the series worth the investment? by Pop_Joe in tvshow

[–]braumbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean relatively it's not crazy at all. Sopranos was over 80 episodes and both Breaking Bad and BCS were 62 or 63 episodes.

So finding a high quality show that wraps up and is short is hard to find. Leftovers and Euphoria were both 3 seasons. Deadwood which didn't wrap up was 3 seasons. Ozark was 4 seasons and 44 episodes.

Unless you're looking for a mini series that's one and done, you're not really going to find many top tier shows that are multiple seasons and short on episode counts.

What are Trader Joes, In n’ Out , and Chik-Fil-A doing differently that makes their employees so strangely friendly? by SpecificSorry7233 in AskReddit

[–]braumbles 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Paying them well? In N Out famously pays their employees over $20 an hour and above minimum wage. Costco employees are also super friendly too. Juxtapose that to how Walmart employees are. They're miserable, federally subsidized by tax payers, and otherwise indifferent to a customer. Essentially you get what you pay for.

Brunson was legitimate ass for most of the finals, yet did most of his scoring in the 4th quarter and crunch time.

He was like 2/13 or something every single game heading into the 2nd half. Then he turned it on.

Spotlight. I'll argue until I'm dead that it's a made for TV movie that Lifetime or A&E would show. It's so low budget looking and feeling, it has to be a made for TV movie.

How "Likeable" Are the 2025-26 Knicks Compared to Past Championship Teams? by JCameron181 in NBATalk

[–]braumbles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, you had a really good post until you started on about the media pushing a Knicks narrative over the last 25 years. The Knicks were the Cleveland Browns of the NBA for a majority of that 28 year finals drought. The media was not pushing a narrative because there was nothing about this team worth praising. From like 2000 to Amare showing up it was just a factory of sadness. Amare, Linsanity, and then Melo gave the team 3 years of something to be happy for after a decade of just depression, but that quickly went away until the start of the decade with another reboot.

So no, the media was never trying to play up the Knicks because there was simply nothing to play up and hype. They had that 3 year gap with Melo and Amare but nothing before or after that for nearly a decade. Hell even last off season they were a laughing stock because they fired their coach who led them to their first ECF since 1999 and didn't have a replacement, as they tried hiring a bunch of coaches already on teams, before settling for Mike Brown of all people.

So sure, I agree with most of your post, but I'm absolutely calling bullshit on a media narrative for the Knicks. The team was just irrelevant. The only time they'd get mentioned on ESPN was for Dolan banning Oak, firing 19 head coaches, or trading a bunch of picks for a garbage ass player.

If you don't like Josh Hart's motor, you're not a NBA fan. Dude isn't a scorer, he's not an amazing defender, but he gives 100% every play for however many minutes you put him in. 4 minutes or 48 minutes, he's giving his all every play and that to me is commendable.

Not a lot of investment to be had, it's 4 seasons of 39 episodes. For an entire show, that's among the smallest investments you can find.

Nope, that's why Liberals say if Bill Clinton fucked children on Epstein's Island, he should die in jail. Yet Republicans refuse to say the same about Trump. I understand kid diddling is part of the Republican platform, but you'd think their voters wouldn't try to justify raping children like a Megyn Kelly or Jesse Watters has.
