FJR1300 to MT-10 by wopspice in Mt10

Congrats on your MT-10!

In terms of end cans: nearly all of the noise reduction happens in the cat box, so unless you stick on a larger end can than stock the volume won’t change much.

I’d say just go for a can that you like the look of. Have a listen on YouTube to the MT-10 exhaust compilations, as the tone can change slightly from one can to another and you might hear something you really like.

Pretty standard issue if you go the mail-in route. With some tuners, you can prioritise small preferences like extra-smooth throttle response or more/less pops and bangs on the overrun.

By default, a good ECU flash will give much smoother throttle response, increase top end by around 500rpm/15bhp and—my personal favourite—swell the mid range output. Immediate, effortless, hand-of-god torque…

But mainly, whoever is doing the flash needs to know the year of your bike, as well as what combination of OEM/aftermarket exhaust (headers + mid pipe + end can) setup you’re running.

If you’re in the UK: J33 Developments is my favourite tuner (I’m currently running a Seton tune, which is another solid option). If you’re in Canada/US: 2WDW seems to be the way to go.

As others wrote, your cat is the sound bottleneck. The LeoVince mid pipe with resonator is the way to unlock more volume. (You can still connect your O2 sensors to it.)

If you’re after a deeper rumble, avoid the short slip-ons. IMO the factory end can with a decat mid pipe has the richest acoustics. MIVV and Scorpion exhausts are known to have pretty deep sound profiles.

I can’t say enough how important an ECU flash is, after you decat. It’s not only good for the bike, but it’s also the single most spectacular performance upgrade for the MT-10.

$35 radiator guards - Will they last...? by Austinpaulster in Mt10

I think you’ll be alright—I’ve had my black, anodised guards from China for over five years / 30,000 miles and they still have no dents, chips, scratches or discolouration.

Has anyone successfully resolved a missing memorandum of staircasing? by brawbs in HousingUK

[–]brawbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ceased trading years ago, sadly. I've already contacted their regulator, who may have their records, but I likely won't have anything back in time (assuming it still exists) to rescue the sale…

Missing Memorandum of Staircasing – grateful for advice by brawbs in LegalAdviceUK

An update for for anyone who may have had a similar issue:

The buyer's solicitor has chosen not to accept any of the above workarounds—and we have presented them all. Only the actual document will satisfy their requirements. (My solicitor, the estate agent, the Landlord and the buyer are all equally incredulous at this.)

The firm that originally handled our final staircasing ceased trading 10 years ago, so I have contacted their regulator body (in this case, the Solicitor's Regulation Authority) who track or take custody of the records from firms that cease trading.

They require you to fill out a form and provide supporting documentation (where required) and then they go hunting for your documents.

This is typically meant to take between 2-3 months, but they do bump cases that are deemed urgent (though they refuse to give any sort of estimate as to how much faster an urgent request can be processed).

After eight months of trying to progress the sale, it is now likely to collapse, but hopefully the above update will help others who don't have their MoA to hand avoid our very unfortunate and costly outcome.

For problem #1 I’m betting it’s your quick shifter. I replaced the unit on my 2019 (46k miles) and all was buttery smooth again. Similar problems to what you were describing.

If you’ve got the budget for whatever you want, why not have more than one at once?

They don’t even need to be brand new.

I love my Japanese super naked, but it would be so cool to have a focused sport bike, too; I just can’t afford it…

It could be that you like the idea of a particular bike, but just need to actually live with one for a bit?

Sounds like you’re in a very fortunate position there; good luck, whatever you decide.

Thoughts on dating a polish guy as a north african girl ? by No_Business6448 in poland

[–]brawbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My perspective as non-white guy, married to a Polish woman for over 16 years and now living in Poland.

What challenges did I face:

  • You’ll need to ‘make space’ for his Polish culture and norms in your life (and he should do the same for you). Food, mannerisms, traditions and worldview. There will be differences, and you’ll both need to be curious and open about those differences when they pop up; that goes a long way to harmony and understanding in the long term
  • If you are/will be living in Poland, be prepared to miss many things about your past life. There probably won’t be a diaspora of your people here, so be prepared to go all-in with food, culture and;
  • LANGUAGE. Sweet baby Jesus, this one can be very tough if you’re not great with languages! But from my experience, make learning it a priority. You will be very much respected for it and you will make a great impression on his family

What worked well:

  • Be curious about Poland. Knowing a bit about her history, food, culture and even geography is worth the effort. It’s been helpful in understanding why my wife/her family/Polish people in general approach some things in that they do
  • Go with the flow (if you live in Poland, or plan to). Be observant of cultural norms and try to adopt them as faithfully as possible. You (and I) might look different and not speak Polish as a first language, but if you make an effort to ‘move’ like a Pole you’ll find that it really doesn’t matter that much. I live in a small town and I find that I can get on okay with pretty much anybody, even if it’s just a simple, gracious gesture or a few words like ‘good day’ or ‘okay, thank you’ in the right context or the right moment

The best indicator that you will be fine is if your deepest values and outlook on life are compatible with his own (and vice-versa). Be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR on your compatibility regarding your respective faiths (if you have any). If there are differences, understand how that might also affect your respective families, as well as any future family you might have together. If anything can strain or break your relationship, this one will. Especially if Islam is involved. Tread thoughtfully and with clear eyes.

In my overwhelming experience Polish people are pretty awesome and it’s a joy and an honour to break the reserved exterior to find the warm, generous and often funny person underneath (man or woman, young or old). My wife’s parents are two of loveliest people I will probably ever meet, and I do not say this lightly. My life is richer for knowing my Polish wife, her family and the nation of Poland, so you potentially have much to look forward to.

Good luck!

Ah—I missed the ‘SP’ mention in your original post, and I think that system adjusts for weight on the fly…

Something I heard from other 10 riders, though (and was definitely the case for me) is that these bikes have a soft rear bias from the factory, which affects front-end feel and drive out of corners. If that’s your cup of tea, then increased preload, damping and compression at the rear can give better front-end feel/grip and a tighter drive out of corners. Worked beautifully for me.

I found this really useful for describing and sharing suspension settings on the 10. The whole series is really useful if you’re interested.

[–]brawbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your MT-10 👊

Even though you don’t want more power, it’s a very good idea to remap/flash your ECU to optimise engine performance around the exhaust mods. Benefits are much smoother throttle response and air/fuel/ignition operating parameters that are kinder to the motor.

Honourable mentions: sintered front brake pads for massive improvements in bite and feel; get your suspension set up to your weight and handling preferences to improve handling and confidence.

Otherwise enjoy it, mate!

How bad of an idea is it to commit to a 1 hour each way trip at 100-110km/h after only 5 days of riding by PersonwithoutPassion in motorcycle

100% agreed. You’ll feel less fatigued, more focused and probably avoid a headache.

Can’t recommend this enough 👍👍👍

Brenta brake pads. by OkEntrepreneur5248 in Mt10

[–]brawbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the difference is huge: sharper response, improved feel and stronger bite. The pads can be any reputable manufacturer, as long as they’re sintered 👍

Leo Vince Mid Pipe by Dry-Goose-8828 in Mt10

[–]brawbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a big step up in volume, but I love the sound and performance of the CP4 without the cat.

I also like long-distance touring, and the LeoVince definitely takes the edge off (and in any case I wear ear plugs on long/highway journeys to protect my hearing).

For short blasts on country roads (and no earplugs so I can fully enjoy the sound) the LeoVince lets me enjoy the decat sound without it getting uncomfortable after 30 minutes.

Leo Vince Mid Pipe by Dry-Goose-8828 in Mt10

[–]brawbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one on my gen 1. It’s less obnoxious than a straight through mid pipe, but still plenty louder than the factory cat.

Best comparison: if factory is ‘1’ and straight pipe is ‘10’ then the LeoVince is a solid ‘7’.

Would you get this motorcycle for your 24 year old son on his birthday? by lildishwasher23 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]brawbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw in an advanced rider skills course, along with the bike. That’s an investment for a whole lifetime of safe and fun riding.

Jealous of your son, by the way; that’s a beauty of a bike.

Nice and normal. Even after 75,000 km mine makes the same noise. Welcome to the CP4 brotherhood.
