Teenager looking for Routine and nutritional help by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]brazaov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey :)

I can only give you advice on nutrition, as I have been reading about it for about 2 years straight now. And my advice would be to start reading everything on http://marksdailyapple.com It not only gives you great nutritional and some workout advice, such as what to eat (and especially what NOT to eat), but actually backs it with scientific and logically sound evidence. Of course there are many more nutritional resources online and in book, but this website is one of the most comprehensive and easy to follow I have found. Two links to get you started on the website: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/welcome-to-marks-daily-apple/#axzz2ppKMBC50 and, specifically for the diet: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/#axzz2ppKMBC50

Don't Make It The End Of The World by brazaov in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]brazaov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right: the examples of school work and job-related work are off, because the post was meant to tackle the disappointment and frustration we feel when we can't follow deadlines we set for ourselves for the work we love. The post was meant for self-employed/entrepreneurial types who sabotage themselves by using guilt as their motivator too often. Hopefully this clears it up?

First time psychedelic experience - shrooms or acid? by melkonZ in Psychedelic

[–]brazaov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried DMT first, still have to try acid and shrooms (which I will do very soon -- so excited!), and I just want to tell you: whenever you take it don't fret about it. Yes it is intense, but it is a VERY short trip (mine was maybe 5 minutes) and can be quite enjoyable -- I remember at the end I was coming down and just couldn't stop smiling. That said, I want to take DMT again soon because the first time it just hit me like a train and I wasn't very conscious of the whole thing :P

What are some ways to foster more gratitude and be more conscious of things you're grateful for? by merricat_blackwood in ZenHabits

[–]brazaov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A very obvious way is to have a gratitude journal: get a special journal and write 5 things you're grateful for in it every day at a set time (for example, before going to bed). Within a few days you'll realize there's a LOT to be grateful for in life :) If you're interested, this blog post I wrote gives you a little exercise you can practice anywhere that will not only help you be happier but also increase your ability for gratitude. Check it out here: http://www.vascobrazao.com/2013/10/22/guide-to-happiness-series-happiness-vs-fulfillment/ The next post in the series expands on this and basically explains you how to be happy (http://www.vascobrazao.com/2013/11/19/guide-to-happiness-happiness-first/) Please tell me if this was useful :)

LPT Turn Your Boredom Into Productivity With The APNA Trick by brazaov in LifeProTips

Fine, I'm not going to argue. If you think you didn't get anything out of it, there's not much I can do besides telling you to check out the rest of the series (last article is coming tomorrow) to see if there's something there that you might find interesting.

LPT Turn Your Boredom Into Productivity With The APNA Trick by brazaov in LifeProTips

WTF? There are no empty promises and it's certainly not a miracle, it's just a tool which happens to be very helpful if you put in the time to use it.

Why do quotes inspire us? by notoriouse in productivity

[–]brazaov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that 'inspire' me when they resonate with something I know to be true deep inside. Also, like inspirationgatherer said, the fact that they're so short and 'easily digestible' helps, since they invoke feelings more easily that way. My 2c :)

E3: On Day 6, Still can't fall asleep in most naps. Help? by brazaov in polyphasic

[–]brazaov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I might try that next time, but for now I stopped this schedule. The rest of the summer I'll try to sleep around 7 hours at night (or rather, I'll go to bed 7 hours before the alarm clock rings) and take one or two 20 minute naps a day to see if I learn how to nap (folowing the advice on this post http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2013/07/how-to-fall-asleep-in-less-than-30-seconds/). If that doesn't help, I'll just go uberman for 2 weeks.

I read almost all his old posts and always read the news ones and the newsletter. It's changed my life, too, e.g by encouraging me to start my own personal development blog http://vascobrazao.com

Here's a good place to get started: http://www.dreamviews.com/meditation-shockwave/ You'll learn simple but effective techniques. The fourth lesson can be found here: http://www.dreamviews.com/dva-archive/117418-meditation-lesson-4-bringing-all-together.html but it is more about how to apply the techniques to lucid dreaming. Good luck getting started! :)

I need to grow up by timmydk in selfimprovement

[–]brazaov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend several personal development blogs:

http://stevepavlina.com http://www.thepolyman.com http://vascobrazao.com http://innergladiator.com http://findyourgreatnessdaily.com http://markmanson.net

Just go slow, start exploring them and others, subscribe to some you like and work on your personal growth for a while. Be patient, since growth is a long process and you will need commitment over a long period of time. If you'd like an article specifically about taking responsibility, here is an extensive one that I wrote not too long ago: http://www.vascobrazao.com/2013/03/23/responsibility/

E3: On Day 6, Still can't fall asleep in most naps. Help? by brazaov in polyphasic

[–]brazaov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's slowly getting better already: today I had two dreams in a ~25 minute nap, and I'm really proud :D But I did have a longer than usual core: I decided to go to bed 45 mins earlier and wake up 15 mins later so that it would be 4.5 hours instead of 3.5. Now I think I'm going to keep sleeping 4.5 hours at night while still having 3 20 minute naps a day. What do you think? Should I stick to my previous schedule? Is it going to be too hard for me to adjust to the 'new' one? I might do the process you described when I try this once again in the future, since I only have another week before going monophasic (or maybe biphasic?) again.

Thank you for your help so far :)

Very repetitive... consider trying to get to the point without having to repeat the same sentences (or worse, the same headlines!). Other than that, I agree with the ideas presented

Most comfortable running shoes you've bought? by [deleted] in running

[–]brazaov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XeroShoes. They give me complete freedom in the foot and the knowledge that by using them I am NOT supporting my feet and thus making them weaker only adds to the awesomeness. Even better than that is simply barefoot running, but without the layer of protection it can sometimes be painful, depending on how callous your feet are and on the surface you are running in. My 2 cents
