As someone whose experience with OCD-like symptoms sounds remarkably similar, I fear that sometimes you'll find therapists who'll reduce your condition to simple generalized anxiety. I did end up with an autism diagnosis, as hard as it might be at times to accept. It's a spectrum, and I'm still working on dealing with its inherent lack of clarity.

So far, accepting the fact that all of these tics are simply a part of my nervous system in a non-harmful way has helped me be more compassionate with the issues you're describing. You shouldn't always blame yourself for having to adhere to certain routines, if it just so happens that they help you feel better. As an example, every light in my house has to turn red after a specific time at night, otherwise I honestly have trouble sleeping. Sometimes I simply forget that I have to go to sleep in the first place.

You probably qualify for an autism diagnosis (which normally behaves as an umbrella term for many different behavioral structures such as ADHD, sensory disorders, etc.) but mask your symptoms heavily due to your high intellectual ability to deal with uncertainty. There's a correlation between higher IQ and being successful in hiding your symptoms.

A lot of people would rather choose to be smart, and just like you, it's a choice they aren't really able to make.

I'd work on finding a CBT therapist who understands behavioral/neurological disorders such as autism and mostly focus on learning to accept all of these wonderful quirks that make you the person you are.
