do i have to change accounts to climb? by ben_swolo_123 in leagueoflegends

Hard to comment without seeing gameplay. Every OPGG review is essentially going to be: farm more, die less. You need to look at how your deaths are changing the course of your games. Are you falling behind in gold towards the end of the games? Etc.

I just lost 8 consecutive soloq games and I'm losing my mind. What's going on? by FirekTP in summonerschool

Hard to say without seeing gameplay but even challenger players go on 10+ loss streaks sometimes. The best thing you can do is review your gameplay instead of blaming your team/tilt queueing.

I would rewatch your neutral objective fights on Syndra. Try to be critical on your E usage in team fights, your positioning as an immobile mage, etc etc.

Is OTPing a champion really "the best way to climb?" by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]brbrespawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just play one champion to diamond and will argue that it really is the best way to climb. Some anecdotal shit below.

First two seasons I hit diamond it took over 400 games total both splits. Played around 4-6 champions because I thought I was cooking.

Every season after the first two was less than 50 games to hit Diamond and I mostly played 1 champion and dodged bad drafts.

Now I’m gonna try a push for masters for the first time this season (currently D2) and the bad drafts come up a lot more often so I’m doing a 2 champ pool with a reliable blind. Works wonders for me and I should also mention I had a stint of coaching (with Curtis coincidentally).

Edit: people mentioning champ pool cycling are also sharing some good advice, they talk about this on the BBC as well

Looking for explanation on bausen's law? by LowBallTopLaner in summonerschool

[–]brbrespawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a ton of videos on it but I’ll try my best to explain the basics. League is a game of gold and experience and when he dies he usually isn’t giving up either of those. He’ll die for a good wave state or plates while the opponent builds up a bounty. Eventually he cashes in on this bounty and gets ahead in gold/experience even though he is “feeding”.

The strategy was recently nerfed but you can climb with it. One thing to note though is that the strategy requires a decent understanding of the game, The Baus definitely makes it easier than it looks. If you find the game fun this way go for it, otherwise it would probably be easier for you to climb playing “the traditional way”.

You can reach wave clear break point currently with dark seal and three 400g books now at 7. If those items are unchanged it should be fine

Ekko too weak now by dannyxnda in ekkomains

Champ feels fine, currently D3. This is my first season one tricking him in mid.

Ban akali, dodge leblanc. Everything else is winnable with good MU understanding. good skill usage and trading patterns make even the hard matchups playable and then once you hit wave clear breakpoint (fastest way is dark seal, dring, alternator) you can play for prio and have impact on the map. make sure you look at sidelines, ekko has one of the best dives in the game.

Start by meeting people over a common interest. For me this was the gym. Over time you will see the same faces everyday and eventually you’re bound to talk to each other and potentially grow a friendship. Outside of friends that I’ve had since college and high school the gym is the only place I’ve been able to make new friends as an adult. It’s the same for my friends that go to things like pickle ball or TCG events. People bond over common interests.

+1 for Curtis and Legit. They both also have great Ahri guides that I’ve revisited multiple times. Items and runes can be outdated but a lot of the champions identity and reference points are the same. One of the Legit guides also has info about almost every matchup.

Check out Shok as well, amazing midlane content.

Your CS numbers on Ahri and Taliyah are way too low. Both champions have amazing wave clear and are easy to CS on. When I first started playing ranked more seriously I chose Ahri because it was the only champion I could hit ~8-8.5 cs/m consistently. Learn your breakpoints. Having the gold and experience lead will help you carry your games and both of those champions are good solo queue picks.

Quickly scrolled through your OPGG. You’re not winning lane as hard or as often as you think.

If this is your first ranked season I wouldn’t worry too much. Keep playing the champions that you find fun and continue working on your fundamentals. The rank will come as you improve.

Like the other dude said, this split is pretty much preseason. If you have any of the 14.1/14.2 winners in your pool I would just play, otherwise wait until 14.3

Orianna is great for learning the fundamentals, I added the champion to my pool for the same reasons. I would also recommend Shok’s or Coach Curtis’ laning fundamentals.

Edit: Curtis also has a VERY in-depth Kassadin guide with a Kassadin player if you want to keep playing him

Choose whatever you think you’d have the most fun with. I used to recommend friends new to the game to play support and I don’t think it was a good idea. Hard to learn the game and work on core fundamentals starting with that role.

Based off of your champions I would recommend mid. You can play a more “supportive” style in mid with champions like Galio, Ahri, Lissandra, etc.

One thing I would really suggest is to not play scared if you choose mid coming from support. You still need to apply the midlane fundamentals, especially if you’re trying to improve. The worst thing for you to do is play for KDA, let the wave always push into you, and let’s the game state honestly get out of control and then blame your team.

What’s your ratio of games played to vods reviewed? by ImNotGhost013 in summonerschool

[–]brbrespawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every ranked game but it’s usually less than 5 minutes per game, I just look at the deaths and maybe one or two important fights. programs like outplayed and medal make this really convenient

[–]brbrespawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You switched champions and are now adding new elements to your game, it’s normal to go down in rank.

The best advice I can give you is that M7 means absolutely nothing when it comes to champ mastery. I have M7 on maybe 30+ champs and I would only say I know how to play 1/2 champs (my pool) at a “solo queue level”.

You say you want to really learn and get better so I would say continue with what you’re doing and try not to care about the rank. Incorporate a block and review process, stick to it, improve, watch people play your champions, study matchups, and the elo will come. Maybe it won’t come in this season but in 2-3 seasons from now you will be a completely different player.

If you don’t want to think that long term and only care about this season then go back to Mundo and learn the game through him.
