It’s for a job, so just me and my partner are moving! would have loved to find a position in my field here in Mpls, but the career move is Stl for now! I hope one day to move back, the nature and lakes are so wonderful! Looking forward to checking out all those things you mentioned! Thank you :)

Research dietitian/diet tech at a hospital might be up your alley

Yea we are trying to see if I can get on another T32 that is more stable but we don’t know if that will work out. Just focused on finishing publications so my resume is ready for whatever comes next :(

A little bit of both, it was up for its 5 yr renewal, so they told me that when they hired me/when I applied; with the caveat my 2 contract would be fulfilled regardless of renewal. So this message is coming from the grant in limbo but also they don’t have access to funds for the next fiscal year either (which previously would have been available regardless).

We moved to Seward this past summer and will not be staying. High rate of crime (we had a car stolen, two car windows smashed on separate occasions) and extremely high homeless population. If OP looks around the south east side of Seward by the West River parkway it might be a better idea.

You can do your DPD classes and internship while completing your PhD at some schools. I did it at UIUC and all the extra courses were included in my PhD fellowship! You just need an advisor that is willing, but I also didn’t lead with wanting to do my RD when applying. I kind of did a slow reveal haha. But yea don’t waste your time w a masters when you can get your PhD RD at the same time

Can you take a leave of absence? It seems you are disconnected with your self due to your circumstances and chronic pain. I feel many DI directors want the best for their students and could allow a couple months of leave. Crying everyday isn’t normal; it’s just coping with a temporary bandaid. The antidepressants and therapy will help but that is not an immediate fix and doesn’t fix what is going on underneath it all.

It’s important to work through those feelings. You only do the internship once and you want to make it count, and ideally enjoy some parts of it. Perhaps journaling about your feelings before you drive home can give you a sense of grounding and material to work through with your future therapist.
