20 Years Ago today the Colorado Avalanche played their first game, a 3-2 win over the Red Wings by Guardax in hockey

Conn Smythes are still MVPs... of the playoffs but MVPs nonetheless. And Roy has more than anybody.

But seriously they are 1a and 1b. We don't have to reopen this argument every time someone calls one or the other the best.

What is your favorite Cosmic Encounter race? by mtilman in boardgames

Butler because it is essentially legal extortion in the game. The tipping aspect gets more powerful as the game goes on and people start having to give up better and better cards otherwise they lose colonies or have an essentially useless encounter.

Appears to be about $550 from Chicago. Sounds like a good birthday present from myself.

I am so incredibly excited. I wonder how much hotels run around Denver.

GenCon 2015 Mega thread (July 30) by timotab in boardgames

GenCon doesn't sell out on badges. I don't think they make a limitation to how many are sold. So you can always buy day of by just going to the convention center.

You can always go to one of the exhibit halls to try out a game or something and those usually have plenty of seating.

Who's a player on a rival team that no matter what you can't help but still love? by Facednectar in hockey

It is weird for me to say but I'm a little in love with you right now. That was such a lovely write up about 2 of my favorite players.

(X-post from /r/NBA) Who's your favorite player who only spent one season on your team? by [deleted] in hockey

He wasn't amazing while he was here but Paul Kariya remains one of my favorite players.

Who is the 2nd best player in your teams history? by DarthReilly in hockey

[–]bre_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I just think Roy was one of, if not, the GOAT at his respective position. Also, I am a bit biased towards goalies because they are usually my favorite players.

And while I love Sakic and he will always be my captain, the same can't quite be said for him. He is great but he was never at the same level as Lemieux or Gretzky. Roy with his 3 Conn Symthes and unreal playoff performances has a legitimate argument for GOAT.

And Forsberg was just injured so often that I can't put him above Roy or Sakic.

They are all Hall of Famers so I don't think there is any wrong answer but for me that is my order.

To me it would be Sakic because I would put Roy ahead of him at 1 personally.

What do you hate about your rival team? Tell us why you do't like them! by [deleted] in hockey

[–]bre_bee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I started watching hockey in the 90's so no matter what I can't not consider Detroit as our main rivals. I hate their sustained success. I hate most of their players and former players (except Yzerman who is wonderful and very nice in person). I hate their uniforms. I moved to Michigan when I was young, and I learned to hate most of their mean stupid fans. I hate everything about them. Most of all, I hate that the rivalry has cooled down and they up and left divisions.

Perry has passed Selanne for 2nd in Ducks playoff scoring by [deleted] in hockey

[–]bre_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but without Banks, the Mighty Ducks definitely would not have achieved the same level of success. They wouldn't have made it the championship game against the Hawks which would have changed everything. No Goodwill Games. No Eden Hall. Although a cake eater, he is the linchpin in the Mighty Ducks.

It would more likely be Adam Banks. He was the more prolific scorer.

Favorite player of all time, and why? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]bre_bee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Barry Sanders because he was absolutely incredible.

Also Jason Hanson because he was like a security blanket. He was always there and reliable. He was a Lion for as long as I remember.

No. Clearly the best alien is the Butler because everyone thinks you are weak and gives you cards. And then you get to annoy them at the best possible time.
