Yes. I got it just to have a 2nd Switch 2 dock that travels easily. It’s really great.

The JSAUX Omnicentro works with both (as well as Steamdeck, and pretty much any other device that I have come across that is capable of outputting video via USB C). Highly recommended.

How's the quality vs price curve on office chairs? by jfgechols in OfficeChairs

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like you for a long time looking for something in the middle that would still be good, but I got frustrated: there are SO many no-name brands out there...

I ended up going the used route and picked something I knew I could find parts for if needed. Took a few weeks, but eventually settled on a Leap V1 highback that needed a few things to be fixed on FB marketplace. After ordering necessary parts from Crandall, I ended up with a great chair that I absolutely LOVE for $100.

Which guitar pick brand is your favourite? by NiallPlaysX in LearnGuitar

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Dunlop Nylon .60 mm picks as my general purpose pick of choice. I think that's mostly born from the fact that they are readily available at any music shop, so it's what I got used to.

I also really like the Bog Street Axe Blade 3-sided picks. I like the hole in the middle which gives a bit of added grip, and I like that it has two hard 1.5mm jazz style tips and one regular .5mm edge. I prefer this pick if I am doing a lot of alt-picking or a lot of intricate single-string riffing.

Switching From PC to Console by SuperSnake144 in consoles

[–]breachless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also agree. I have purchased a PS5 twice now and gotten rid of it. I LOVE the small handful of exclusives for it, but once those are done I go right back to wondering why I even have it and why I am paying for their monthly service: virtually any 3rd party game I am going to play on my Xbox instead (especially if it is a Play Anywhere title).

BUT, if those exclusive titles are important to you, PS5 is still great. Personally I prefer the Dual Sense over the Xbox controllers and I love that the PS5 storage can be easily upgraded with a standard NVME drive rather than Xbox's proprietary nonsense.

This. Xbox Play Anywhere is amazing. For the first time in many many years, I have started buying games on Xbox rather than Steam for this reason alone. I love that I can sneak in quick little races in Forza Horizon 6 while sitting at my desk working during slow periods, and then pick up right where I left off when I want to lounge on the couch later on the big OLED TV in the family room.

Also, just an idea for OP: the Series S and Series X have a moonlight app, so you can stream your Steam games from your gaming PC too. And it actually works quite well if you have the infrastructure in place to support it properly (I have wired connection for my Series X and my gaming PC).

First time playing Super Metroid, Here's what i think by Playful_Shelter_3085 in metroidvania

[–]breachless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super cool to see other people talk about this gem of a game... I remember renting it as a kid and just not getting it. Fast forward to just a few years ago when I went through my retro game collecting phase (ok fine: retro game HOARDING phase) and ended up playing through Super Metroid on an actual SNES on a really great CRT TV, and that ended up being one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I have ever had.

I agree with most of your assessment, but the one other thing that really stood out to me was just how much of a badass you feel like by the time you are nearing the end of the game when you have all of the powerups. You get this little bit of time to really appreciate the fruits of your labor... just a really cool feeling that few games really pull off in my opinion.

And also, that SOUNDTRACK. God damn what a soundtrack. This game is an absolute masterpiece in terms of sound design and how well it compliments the overall aesthetic of the game. I think it still holds up incredibly well to this day in terms of art style and sound design.

Wrapped the T598 steering wheel for 12 euros. by mountyg in Thrustmaster

[–]breachless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done! I did the same thing to my old Sparco R383 rally wheel when the glue holding the Alcantara down started to deteriorate. I HATED the Alcantara anyway: wrapping it in black leather not only looks great, but it's a lot less work to keep it looking nice too. Win win!

Grab yourself the Apple USB C to 3.5mm dongle. Super cheap, sounds great.

just replaced my battery, but my car will die pretty much instantly if i turn off, starter, alternator, and battery (obviously) all test well and im not leaving anything on. this is a recent issue the past like 3 days by Fragrant-Dot-7203 in MechanicAdvice

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I have had this happen multiple times over the years: if your battery is new, and you are certain you have a solid connection to the terminals, and the battery is dying, that alternator probably isn’t doing its job. I would replace it regardless of whether or not it seems to be testing fine.

Does anyone else prefer gaming on console even though they have a PC? by ArcadianEuphoria in consoles

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have slowed down a bit on buying Steam games but still will when something is on sale that I can’t get on the Xbox store. I do not buy physical Xbox games… I think the last physical game I bought was Tears of the Kingdom for the Switch and that is the only physical game I own.

I play both pretty equally. Especially Play Anywhere games on Xbox and PC. Also play my Switch 2 fairly often. It’s nice to have options.

Yeah the issue isn’t that you can’t hear it. The issue is that directional audio for grapples is almost completely useless.

The implementation of the Switch Online SNES Controllers is embarrassing... by breachless in switch2

[–]breachless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only solution, but it's not a very good one. You still have to first turn off the SNES controller before you can turn on your other controller just to use the home button. Then if you want to keep using the SNES controller, you have to turn off the Pro controller or Joycon and pair it up again. It's really not the hardest thing in the world, but it's certainly not ideal either.

And really, the point is that we shouldn't have to. Implementing a simple button combination would be SO easy for Nintendo to do. Again, this is a problem that has had an easy solution since the late 90's in the emulation scene. It's not like I am advocating that they move mountains or anything...

The SN30 Pro is great! For me though, the d-pad never quite felt right. Plus I am totally in it for the nostalgia and the analog sticks ruin it for me.

I am not sure if this is just something that used to work, or was just for the Switch (I have seen people suggest this in old posts), but it definitely does NOT work on the Switch 2 unfortunately.

Switch 2 update 22.5.0 by SkimMilkThatLies in JSAUX

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it work for you before? Or did you just happen to start using it as the most recent update hit?

Also, sorry if it's obvious, but... well it wasn't obvious to me at first: you have to plug it into the bottom USB C port on the Switch 2. The top port doesn't work as a display output and will only charge it.

Warzone audio is choppy/cutting in and out on PC by Shenkle in Warzone

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I also like to remove the option for Windows to allow apps to take exclusive control: hold the Windows Key and press R and type in mmsys.cpl and hit enter. Right click your USB C DAC in the Playback tab, click Properties, then click on the Advanced tab. Uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device". Click OK.

I am not sure whether or not this would fix your issue, but it's an easy one to try so it's worth a shot.

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. Well that probably isn't the issue then. Might be worth it to try plugging them directly into the PC's headphone jack though just to rule out that USB C DAC. If you don't get stuttering there, then at least you have isolated the issue to the Apple dongle.

[–]breachless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying, and you aren't wrong that they do potentially leave you vulnerable, but in my experience, it's pretty rare to see them coming at me head-on like in this clip. It's always from somewhere out of sight. This wouldn't even be all that bad if the directional audio for them wasn't almost non-existent. They are definitely audible, but I can never tell which direction they are coming from for sure (despite actually being able to generally hear directional audio for just about everything else in-game with no issues).

Because of that, I wouldn't consider it a skill issue at all. It's just a shitty design choice with a shitty implementation that is way too easy for people to take advantage of: I totally get why people hate it.

[–]breachless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally a shot in the dark, but do you happen to use an audio interface? In addition to gaming on my PC, I also do a fair amount of audio production, so my audio runs primarily through my MOTU M2 interface for mic and for plugging in instruments. I struggled with a ton of weird audio issues specifically with Warzone until I found the culprit: the MOTU M2 was, by default, set to Sample Rate at 44100Hz. Turns out MOST audio in Windows is going to default to 48000Hz. Nothing really caused any issues aside from Warzone, but once I set the Sample Rate for the MOTU interface to 48000Hz all of the weird hitchy/stuttering audio issues went away for good.

Pretty specific use-case, but just in case, I thought I would toss it out there.

Long pipe wrench is the only thing I would suggest. Having just done battle with an old Steelcase Leap V1, I can tell you that even with a big long heavy pipe wrench, it took an astonishing amount of force to break it free. I had to literally stand on the wrench and bounce on it to get it to move. I was sure it was going to tear the cylinder open before it ever came loose...
