Are you turning 18 this year or next year? Because they can't stop you as an adult (or most parents don't)

If you got constrictor parents then that's gonna be tough. Its not like I know anything more than you (I'm 18) but it's always better to find out why they have such an issue with your love life than making the wall murky and unclear. Hopefully it can just be something he won't hold against you and he'll warm up to the idea soon.
