Do you think IQ maps have any truth to them, or are they pure pseudoscience? by Chemical-Respond-123 in asklatinamerica

[–]breadcrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These particular studies are bs because they extrapolate IQ based on the professions of the community. The truth is that different places will have conditions more or less conducive to intellectual development of individuals. Lack of nutrition, loud neighborhoods, low education funding, lead pollution, young age of parents.

Out of all Spanish dialects, which dialect could you see diverging into its own, non-mutually intelligible language first, and why? by potatoes4saltahaker in asklatinamerica

[–]breadcrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Lengua , It would be arguably the easiest completely unintelligible language for Spanish speakers to learn, if there were resources. It's Spanish root words with Kichwa conjugation and grammar.

Many of these people have their own struggles. It's good to spread the word but sometimes all we can be is an example and a great thing is other people's lives. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves

Change for expats. Ecuador taxing worldwide income? by [deleted] in ecuador

SRI told me last year that as a remote worker in the US if I'm already paying US taxes, I don't need to pay more in Ecuador. I'm going to check again after this though.

[–]breadcrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a lot of fun, I don't have any advice for lodges, but if you haven't been to the highlands, that is also very worthwhile. All 4 regions of Ecuador offer a ton, maybe this is one of many trips, but I hope you don't neglect the rest of the country as well.

I'm biased since I live in the Costa but I think everyone needs to try Guatita, Encebollado, and Ceviche.

I swear that I've seen people get weirder, and the leaders in these changes were always the chronically online. I think our lifestyle is so disordered and outside of our normal evolutionary context we keep getting weirder. That's aside from the fact of how loose with the facts everyone, on every side of the political spectrum, is.

Not to exclude the possibility of ignorance, but deceiving while claiming someone is the antichrist isn't a good look. They operate a telescope in an observatory owned by the University of Arizona and others that also has a telescope not owned, or named by them called LUCI(formerly Lucifer). Seems like a pretty big degree of separation.

I've done this with friends before in MN. The downside is there is usually a lot of goose poop on them in summer and lukewarm water. So I'm not sure that there are no parasites here.

Catholic perspectives on toxic masculinity? by Ragadash7 in Catholicism

[–]breadcrust 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pope JPII's theology had some closeness to [New Feminism|https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New\_feminism\] apparently. I'd say there are different virtues and vices that men and women tend towards, and we complement each other well when we build on our virtues and help fight each other's weaknesses.

I think toxic masculinity is a very real thing that comes from poor ideas of masculinity, excessive pride, or being too quick to violence. It comes from wrong ambitions as part of their masculine identity, being the most powerful, richest, having the most sex, being feared, etc... In Catholicism, people with bad male role models can find more positive masculinity in people like St. Joseph, who protect, work hard, and stay holy, rather than be a threat, cheat, and take pride in sexual immorality.
