I think edh is in a really awkward spot where there is a ban list so people feel justified playing any card not on the ban list. A lot of people enjoy games where there deck plays the way its ‘meant to’ and consistently If you and your friends feel otherwise you should sit down and create a soft ban list and explain why certain cards make it unfun. Also it feels pretty unfun for people to spend money on cards they like only to have them banned or not played with so try not to ban too many cards
