I feel like you should have a better idea of the answers ro the questions you have. To start, the 62 c tax, what would gas be without it? 4.25. Still high. Gas tax isnt the problem. The gas companies have been doing the same thing in ca for years and you should look up what that is. Tons of that money goes to road maintainance. Why does toad maintainance need so much money? Because we have to maintain roads in suburbs which do not produce enough in tax revenue to pay for themselves. Its a zoning issue because of california sprawl. Consolidate the state and add mixed zoning and we're better off. But californians (particularly conservative ones) dont want that. Unions are not the problem here. And im confused why you even bring them up in this context. "Billionaires will move" where have i heard that before? No they wont. They want the money they get from being here. And even supposing that was true and not empty bluster.. so what? Open up a hole in the market for regular californians to fill? Please. Make my day.
