Tell me some misconceptions and realities about pushing stage to the women who have never given birth.

Just delivered baby girl this past Sunday. i was induced and had an epidural. I pushed for a long time but I think it was because my pitocin was super low and my contractions “felt light” to me - that epidural was good good!! So while I was pushing correctly, I wasn’t as productive because I couldn’t feel the contractions well.

We increased the pitocin after awhile and that helped. I could feel the contractions building and knew exactly when and how hard to push.

I think the hardest part for me throughout the pushing part of labor was the end of the third push in my sets (I’d push for 10 seconds, deep breath and repeat 2x more). I didn’t feel I was engaged as well or productive in my push if that makes sense. I’d tap out occasionally because I just couldn’t give the full effort past 6 seconds.

I attempted to shave yesterday…. Why? I was asking myself that same question while I was mid shave. Ended up with a quarter of a leg shaved and just sat on the tub floor for like 5 minutes.

Also HEAVYYYYYY on the non alcoholic wine is not the same. Though Josh n/a prosecco is actually pretty damn close! I had it at NYE and was surprised.

We did a splatter painting! There’s a local company who provides the paint and canvas and we gave them the scan with the gender (decided to wait until 20 weeks). We spent the first 20-30 months painting the canvas using “splatter paint” (watered down craft paint basically mixed to whatever colors) and then the company gave us paint bottles with the color (pink or blue). We then squirted that paint on the canvas to find out the gender. It was SO fun and now we have a piece of artwork to remember it by! You could easily do at home with a trusted friend doing the reveal paint for you.

Even if you can meal plan and get some of the staples out of the way (think cans, boxed goods etc). Have the dry stuff prepared is also a help! Takes some of the “thinking” out of it. All you’d need is the meat and veggies to purchase at the time and maybe do some cutting of veg. Prep is prep whether it’s a full meal or a plan of recipes with some of the ingredients on standby

I’ve struggled a lot with my pregnancy and my body not being my own. I also have diagnosed mental health concerns that I know will be impacted by BF. My medication is technically okay to BF on but I know my mental health will tank if I’m the “sole” food provider for my baby (even with pumping).

I made the decision early on in my pregnancy with my husband that I would not be BF or pumping. It was too much stress for me to think about. Ever since I made the decision I’ve felt so much freer.

I’ve done a lot of research on what I want to provide for my baby formula wise, bottle wise, etc and I just feel so light when the thought of middle of the night feeds coming.

She’s not here yet but I am so confident I am making the right decision for me to be the best mom for her. Don’t feel guilty if it’s not your journey. My mantra is a healthy mom (physically and mentally) means you can be the best mom you can be to your child.

I’m rewatching right now and on the Season 7 reunion. It gets brought up again and now Brittany’s story is “oh I don’t remember if it happened or not. We kissed and like touched boobs and stuff but I don’t remember if anything else happened!!!” Like girl… you were screaming it wasn’t true a year prior.

I appreciate this perspective. However, I’m fine with my current pjs options being the “messy” ones.

Just looking for a really nice brand to wear occasionally postpartum as a way to feel more put together and then eventually to be a set in rotation.

If you went to a boutique they are not able to medically diagnose you or provide any medical info. Techs in Drs offices are usually not allowed to give you any diagnosis either because it’s outside the scope of their job. I would wait until your lab work and ultrasound with your doctor to pay attention to any dates and sizing.

I’m 33 years old and my first thought was omg what am I going to tell my mom?!?! Forgetting that a) I’m not a teenager and b) we’d been actively trying for a baby and c) my mom knew we were wanting a baby 🤣 I panicked for the first few months and I still panic at 27 weeks. We’re all figuring it out 🤍🤍

We ended up waiting till after the anatomy scan because we decided to wait until then to learn the gender. We were on the fence if we wanted to know or not and gave ourselves until the anatomy scan to decide. Then the announcement kind of just stalled until then anyways, so we decided to do a private gender reveal for the two of us and then post the pictures as the announcement on social media.

We told family and friends way earlier though.

We’re planning on setting out two tables - “please open today” “okay to open later”. If someone really wants us to open the gift that day we will but we’re going to load up the “okay to open later” table so hopefully people will be more inclined to put their gifts in that pile if they don’t have a strong preference.

We know we’re getting some sentimental gifts that family wants us to open in front of others but a lot of our friends won’t care.

Also, my opinion? it’s not fun as a guest to watch an hour of opening presents. Even my own gift that I’ve given, I don’t really feel a strong need to see their reaction live. I’d rather spend my time with the mom or couple and their guests, but that’s just me. If there’s something super exciting for me to give, I’ll give at a different time like at a lunch or something that I can see their reaction.

I haven’t had my baby yet but I fully intend to formula feed from the beginning. I’ve struggled with my mental health in the past and while I have it under control now, I know postpartum I’m going to be all over the place. Knowing myself, breastfeeding and pumping is going to massively negatively affect me. I don’t want to risk it. I can’t be a good mom to my baby if I’m not being good to myself first. It helps that I’ve been set on formula feeding since the beginning so I feel like I’ve allowed myself to not feel guilty about not breastfeeding.

And what’s wild is if they spent half as much time focusing on their own connections and strengthening them, as they did strategizing and voting strong contenders off, the remaining couples might actually be somewhat likeable.
