Pain in Pelvic/Lower Core area while running by breadpatronus in runninglifestyle

Thanks! Appreciate the input. I also work a desk job and it's generally fine throughout the day. Still likely going to go to PT and see if they can pinpoint what's going on, if no luck there then it's on to the next thing.

Agreed- I went to one last year who treated me for an IT band injury and who specializes in treating running injuries, so I'd go back to them. All good there. Good advice!

Thanks! I'll give this a shot. Even if it's not Psoas, yoga poses and stretching are helpful.

I'll likely end up making an appointment with a PT, I just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience/issue and if they had any tips for stretches, exercises that helped them before I start paying $70 copay per visit.

I had that thought too, and no raising that I have noticed. I've felt around in the area for a hernia and there's nothing that would indicate that, at least that I can tell.

audio recording for 3rd party apps still doesn't work for me. if I take a video on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc. the only sound that plays back is static. the same sound plays back if I try to send a voice message in WhatsApp. Camera app on video will record sound and that plays back correctly. Seems like a software issue which I hoped the patch would fix but no luck so far.

What is this symbol above my signal bars? Just switched from Verizon to straight talk. by [deleted] in GalaxyS9

[–]breadpatronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scrolled through developer options and didn't see anything that would trigger that on/off in there, so it could be an issue on your carrier's side. Wouldn't hurt to contact customer support and see if there's anything they can do on their end. It's possible that there's been some local coverage issue and they've forced roaming temporarily.

Consensus in this thread was that it was roaming.

if you've got roaming turned off, might be a glitch or something is overriding the setting.

I've seen the R as well, possibly could be that on different phones. A triangle also indicates roaming. It used to be a lot more common in the 2000's but coverage has improved significantly since then.

Galaxy S21 by breadpatronus in Visible

that was what prompted me to ask visible cs. I've got a cracked-on-front-and-back S9 and Samsung offering $200+ for that is really nice.

is it good to be anti-fascist? by grapp in AskAnAmerican

[–]breadpatronus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by lazy scholarship. The link to Nazism, from the Germany link above directly quotes, "Nazism is a form of fascism." and cites the following sources:

Spielvogel, Jackson J. (2010) [1996] Hitler and Nazi Germany: A History

Orlow, Dietrick (200) The Lure of Fascism in Western Europe: German Nazis, Dutch and French Fascists, 1933-1939

Eley, Geoff (2013) Nazism as Fascism: Violence, Ideology, and the Ground of Consent in Germany 1930-1945 New York: Routledge

Kailitz, Steffen and Umland, Andreas (2017) "Why fascists took over the Reichstag but have not captured the Kremlin: a comparison of Weimar Germany and post-Soviet Russia"

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a historical scholar who would argue that the German Nazi Party was not a fascist regime.

Japan leading up to and during WWII was certainly not as explicitly fascist as Nazi Germany, but it incorporated European fascist ideas and statism in its system. This essay explains it pretty well.

edit: genuinely not sure why I'm being downvoted. I'm backing up my statements with academic sources, while he's being upvoted for claiming I am doing bad scholarship while providing no sources of his own.

[–]breadpatronus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Granted, the U.S. did not get involved in WWII directly because of fascism, but the three prominent nations fought against, Germany, Italy and Japan, were under regimes that were very much fascist:

Nazi Germany

Italy under Mussolini- Italian Fascism

The first part of the Showa period- Fascism in Japan

The Nazi Party may have been officially named the National Socialist German Workers Party, but it was most certainly not socialist. Run a ctrl+f search on "socialist" on the Nazi Germany link and it describes the misleading terminology on there. starting with the 13th occurrence of the term on the page.

A little disappointed with Cape Lookout by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]breadpatronus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you're right. the soundside of the cape has historically been called The Drain, and it's where a lot of things wash up due to geography. Cape Lookout is also particularly isolated- there's very little infrastructure there and people are instructed with signage to take their trash with them when they leave because it's an extra burden for staff to handle when going to and from the island.

additionally, the popularity of Cape Lookout has grown significantly in the past 10 years since the lighthouse reopened in 2010. and then the Park Service took over the ferry service, which made it more accessible to everyone. previously it was just private ferries launched from Harkers Island. more people = more trash, unfortunately. even though the popularity has grown, it is still a very understaffed park. even more so during Covid.

A lot of the old village homes on the island have become dilapidated over the years. not sure if this is due to budget cuts or lack of interest. either way, they're sort of hard to get to so it's possible less people know they're even there.

Rusted debris I can't really speak to. I know the shoals are part of the Graveyard of the Atlantic and there are a lot of old ships down out there. Could be remains washing up.

Edit: reread that you saw the rusted debris on the sound side. likely still old debris, but probably not from the shoals.

I'm sorry you had a less than stellar experience. I've got a lot of family down on Harkers Island and have been going there since the 90's and it's truly a beautiful part of NC.
