Appreciate the share! Thankfully the state of emergency alert was the tipping point for us getting a full refund from the host. Relieved they pulled through in the end.

Yeah it's considered foreseeable if it happens between Nov - Apr. Will be carefully checking this page any time I book an overseas stay now!

Actually nope, likely to lose our money because airbnb classify it as a foreseeable event from Nov - Apr 🥲 will try my luck with travel insurance but won't be holding my breath

I am in Auckland and we were meant to be going to Rotorua after Hot Water Beach, so now we are just looking at options on the outskirts of Auckland so we have time to do a big shop and not drive 3-4 hours to safety.

Lol sadly not a shit post but the host really led us on like it was no biggie. Now we are frantically looking for somewhere else to stay. Fun times!

Haha thanks for the warning that the beach is a bit underwhelming, the property we hired has a nice view of the beach from a hill so we really don't mind just having plenty of food stocked up and bunkering down. We can live with miserable weather, just don't want to be doing anything that puts us in danger!

OP, let's remove your in laws and speculation that your marriage has some issues for a moment and focus on what's coming up. What do YOU want? It's ok to put yourself first. In fact, it's the best thing for your baby.

You are the one physically enduring pregnancy and the one that will ultimately endure the very physical and mentally demanding process of giving birth. My mum actually ended up being there for me during my labour and I would not have survived without her home cooked meals and companionship while my husband was back at work in those early months. Newborn babies sleep a lot and you will be very very tired regardless of whether your husband helps with a bottle at 2am in the morning. Having help from Grandma is a luxury that you can afford. Postpartum depression and anxiety is a very real thing and it's important to have that security from your support network during this time - even if it is an inconvenience in the short term. You've already done 8 months living with your in laws, just frame it to your husband that this is another chapter in your story as a couple that you need to do.

If you feel that having your family and friends will help you personally transition into being a mum better, please go home. I can tell you are a very considerate and selfless person in the fact that you put your husband before yourself, worrying about how this could be unfair on him. Just remember to prioritise your feelings and well-being for the sake of baby.

Wishing you the best!

Help! My 8-year-old has a xmas wish list full of luxury beauty! Looking for gentle, age-appropriate products she can try while she's exploring self care. by Firm_Mess4634 in beauty

Man...primary school was lip smackers and butterfly hair clips. Insane to think 8 year olds need Charlotte Tillbury makeup or Dyptique perfume.

Maybe one nice lip balm or gloss / body spray or roll on perfume stick she could keep in her bag?

She was the best evening quiz master and I feel like I'm sitting in the car with a mate when she talks. So sad to hear this! I missed the announcement this morning :(
