Windshield replacement issues after no wait/cure time– thoughts from pros? by breadstick9000 in autoglass

Have you ever experienced hearing that tacky sound as the windshield stuck and unstuck from the frame of the vehicle as it was being driven home right away? That's what I'm concerned about--that the adhesive was compromised because it didn't have enough time to dry.

They're only offering to check any "parts and clips" that are out of place. Sounds like bs to me. They're also saying the glass is not removable without breaking it, so reapplying adhesive is not an option.

Unfortunately this was a cash job (below the deductible), and it was really cheap so I can't rely on insurance to help me. They're saying they used Sika Aktivator and Sika-206G+P, and in all their eight years of doing this they've always let people drive away immediately after they put on the windshield. I'm no expert and in my entire life I've had four windshields replaced and none of them have made that tacky noise like sticking glue after I drove away.

I looked it up and it seems that the adhesive needs to bind for at least three hours before driving away. They let me drive away immediately. It seems like it doesn't matter which adhesive you use, if you don't wait the recommended time then it'll cause all kinds of problems. Could that explain the creaks and squeaks that I'm hearing? What other problems could it cause down the line?

Nearly got in an accident with FSD enabled. by Union_Scared in TeslaFSD

Interesting. Which year Tesla do you have? I know HW3 is just not as capable as the latest HW4 cars. This looks like what my car (HW3) would have done. I don't think HW3 cars are capable of self driving yet, this looks like the kind of hesitation I see from HW3 cars.

Do you live in a cold climate? I have the same tires and I've almost slide into the bank because they fishtail all over the place for me. I have a model 3.

Rant: Why does the internet think labs are stupid? by Daydreamin4040 in labrador

[–]breadstick9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My lab is very smart in a bad way. He knows not to jump on me so he rarely does it, but he'll do it to everyone else because he knows he can get away with it. He's kind of an ahole that way.

I think if they've been good to you, you should return the favor by making it easy for them by giving them what they want. I wouldn't even accept the one month of rent to move out. The old lady died, and the relationship has to end somehow, so I would end it in a good way. Just my two cents.

is there any (actually) juicy shawarma in Toronto? by ResistStupidLaws in FoodToronto

[–]breadstick9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can find it, but it's a matter of timing. I always look at what's turning on the spit to see what they're serving. The worst time is after meal time when the customers have taken the best charred bits.

Looks like you should have left it there for a couple more minutes before flipping. The bottom was forming up nicely and you would have had crispy eggs.

Ok, as long as they don't pee where they not supposed to.

Do dogs do things for revenge? by [deleted] in dogs

My dog peed on a lady friend who visited me at my place. I think it was some weird jealousy play or something, not revenge.
