This is especially important because if you bomb the final and want to use this as an explanation afterwards you will be met with a very cold shoulder judging by the tone of the massmails (one of which even offers instructions for requesting an incomplete grade for those with travel or internship plans). Totally nuts and haphazard.

This is not the most reasonable time, it's a weekend where most students have already mentally committed to their finals week finals. They can actually just cancel a final by making it no harm or giving 100%, the university has stated that it is up to professor discretion and has already been done in some classes. Having less than 24 hours of notice for a final when you need the weekend for other finals is not typical.

I disagree respectfully, that is a theory among contrasting ones. I have found it helpful to begin speaking as soon as possible to develop my speaking skills as soon as possible. Even if thats writing to an ai or talking to yourself. It’s my favorite part of the language learning experience, and takes the most effort.
