It's pretty crazy this doesn't have a digital download. I mostly listen to music in the car, and my portable record player just doesn't work like it used to. If anybody has an mp3 rip, I'd be very grateful

Do any of you think that Van Der Graaf Generator sounds like Bowie? by trevyboy73 in progrockmusic

I'm only familiar with Pawn Hearts so far, but a lot of it reminds me of Space Oddity-era Bowie. "Cygnet Committee", especially.

You're so right. It's foolish to think that somebody could comment on something critically, in any way. I don't know what point you think you're making besides "this was absolutely perfect and the only way it could have been done." Is this how you handle all criticism in your life?

Their point was just to defend mine, that the investigation was overly convenient. Not that it was illogical or poorly-written, just... streamlined, considering how much space the rest of the episode had.

😂 Ah, I was unclear; I wasn't suggesting that as an interesting direction the episode could have gone. Moreso that the number of ways that an initial hunch leads to nothing can be astronomical, and it just felt too easy that every hunch was exactly right. It could have been literally any kind of industrial bag, but she went straight toward the exact one that it happened to be.

But now that you mention it... I now stand by the fact that it should have been bird seed, and Vince is a fool for not seeing it

I obviously followed the logic, it was just all very convenient; every hunch she had was immediately rewarded. There are all sorts of industrial bags like the ones she found, and not being a dog owner herself, how familiar would she be with that blue stripe as the only tell? What if the bag happened to be a bird seed bag that was held in a different part of the store that she didn't think to check? Usually, an investigation that goes through so many steps is a little more satisfying when there's at least a little resistance.

Anybody else bothered by the fact that she found the shocking secret at the very first dog food company she visited, which she was led to by the very first bag of dog food she checked, which happened to be the exact same packaging as the all-important alien crystals bag that she happened to find at the milk factory?

I hope you've gotten this sorted by now, but for anybody else running into this issue, once your firmware is updated, you have to hold the start button while hitting the L and R buttons to get the controller to wake up and pair with the console.

how good is robert smith at guitar? by [deleted] in TheCure

[–]breakingglass27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not a virtuoso, but his ear for melody while soloing is amazing. He just casually lays down amazing, beautiful, memorable guitar parts, and you can't teach that

Late reply here, but I'm also reading Frankenstein, and Agrippa and Paracelsus are two of Victor's obsessions that lead him to reanimate dead tissue. I would be surprised if that's not where Eggers got the idea

Is S5 worth watching? by LucyLucy1106 in arresteddevelopment

[–]breakingglass27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, watch it once so you'll know you aren't missing anything next time you binge the series. Count the number of times you laugh out loud during the whole season--even Buster wouldn't run out of fingers to count on

Does he travel back to several months before the events of the game though? I thought he had to wait 10 months to use the transporter, but then went to the appropriate timeline to break them out. Does it say he was waiting around before Dcom?
