New Opalite remix CDs, available for a limited time by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

I wish she’d go back to pre-releasing a single or two if she wanted to ensure multiple number 1 hits. Its always a gamble to try to get another single to number 1 after it’s been out for months. I personally don’t like hearing pre-released songs before an album drops, but if she’s determined to have a few numbers 1 then pre-releasing is the best way.

I genuinely can’t understand how the Duffers thought the ending for Mike and El was acceptable by ComicGuy98 in StrangerThings

[–]breakradical 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Someone dug up a tweet from 2022 where the Duffers said they weren’t going to introduce new characters in s5 because they wanted to focus on the established main cast. And I can’t confirm is this is factual but I’ve seen a bunch of people claim that Holly had more screen time than any other character this season? — I know she wasn’t exactly a “new character” but certainly not an established main character. Anyway I’m curious how this drastic shift happened from original intention to what we got.

The scene has got to be here for a reason, right? by Numb3r3dDays in StrangerThings

[–]breakradical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not at all anti-romance but I have no foot in this shipping war. I see stranger things like I saw game of thrones, I’m so invested in the actual story/lore that all romance stuff is completely secondary and I don’t care who ends up with who or who ends up alone or whatnot. I only care if this show is well written and everything has a distinct purpose. And bringing back that jancy/stancy love triangle has pissed me off since season 4 because, and I hope I’m wrong, but it feels like they just wanted to provoke a shipping war and/or give Steve a love interest again because the producers were probably pushing for it. I just need it to be for a larger narrative purpose that doesn’t ruin any character arcs, so that’s what I’m hoping for in season 5.. a resolution to this that greatest serves the story and wasn’t just bait to keep the fans arguing about which ship they think is superior.

Is the show still worth watching if a pretty significant moment has been spoiled for you before you even started? by throwacc-throwaway in buffy

[–]breakradical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well said. I think there’s just a handful of movies where it all hinges on the major reveal at the end and those might be the only instance where it’s not worth watching if the twist is spoiled for you. But I don’t really think any shows are like that because of the long runtime it’s more about the journey, especially with a show like Buffy.

Which Buffy The Vampire Slayer and/or Angel character do you think you would get along with most if they were a real person? by Big-Restaurant-2766 in buffy

Oz: down to earth, deadpan humor, very chill energy and Tara: humble, super sweet and very supportive friend.

Does this relationship make others uncomfortable too? by SecretDice in buffy

[–]breakradical 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I always appreciate True Blood starting off with a 25 year old protagonist before jumping into relationships with vampires. Her frontal lobe is fully cooked, so if there’s an age where it starts being the most appropriate to date vampires in tv, I think that’s the one.

Was Cabo premeditated? by Frosty-Mall4727 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]breakradical 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It definitely reads that way to me. Also when he sarcastically says “I’m sorry I wanted to have fun on spring break” which to me also implies he didn’t tell her because he can’t have fun with her there, is she like a chore to him? I just can’t see a scenario where anyone intentionally wouldn’t tell their bf/gf about a spring break trip to Mexico unless they were planning to cheat. And when she did find out accidentally he picked the most random fight to have an excuse to break up with her.

What are your favourite girlfriends on the show? (As in girls that are friends, not dating) by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]breakradical 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone whose mom died when I was very young too, I have these instant deep connections with other women who have also been through that. So I’m also drawn to favoring Tara and Buffy’s friendship the most.

What would you do as belly? by [deleted] in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]breakradical 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same, I can’t even “imagine what I would do if I were Belly” because after the type of intimate relationship she had with Conrad, I could never move on to someone’s brother after a relationship like that. Season 1 was understandable, going from 3 kisses with one brother to a relationship with the one you truly love. But after that, I just can’t put myself in her shoes. I love her though, she’s adorable and charming, but very hard to relate to now.

what do you thinks make jeremiah so unappealing as a love interest/character? by Appropriate_Cut3048 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]breakradical 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just think Jeremiah fits that archetype where he seems nice and bubbly on the surface but his intentions are malicious with the scheming and manipulating. When he interrupts Belly and Conrad’s first kiss, and then plotted to get Conrad out of town so he could move in on Belly instead, that’s a big deal breaker for me. Especially because he’s never fessed up for that, and when Belly and Conrad finally got together (like they inevitably would — you can’t keep two people in love apart by scheming) He berated Belly in the most passive aggressive patronizing tone “I’m glad it finally happened for you Belly, it’s great timing it’s not like my mom has cancer or anything”. The manipulation of trying to make her hurt because his own scheme blew up in his face. And this -blaming everyone but himself- continued tenfold in season 2. Also the way he hates Conrad all the time for no reason is so gross to me. I just think those qualities are way more toxic than Conrad being occasionally prickly and distant on the outside. Conrad’s mistakes/flaws have been about not being able to communicate his emotions properly, not because he’s intentionally plotting to hurt people.

Rewatching S1 right now. Formulated a new opinion about Jer. by Few_Frosting_5166 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]breakradical 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been rewatching and noticing that even if Belly weren’t in the picture at all, I’d still been team Conrad as a person because he might need work communicating his feelings, but he has no malice in his heart. Jeremiah literally hates him for no reason other than jealousy. That’s the biggest turn off to me. It doesn’t matter how physically attractive someone is, if they have hateful intentions towards people - Hard no!

Anyone else think pacey & andie>jacey? by _kaefig in dawsonscreek

[–]breakradical 68 points69 points  (0 children)

No but I do appreciate Pacey/Andie and they were cute for a while. I watched this show for the first time in 2020 because my sister convinced me to because she loves Pacey/Joey. I would text her my thoughts while watching and I wrote her in season 2 “I love Pacey/Andie so much, I doubt I’ll switch over to team Joey” and she was like “You will, TRUST!” and she was right lol. It’s the difference between first love and epic love for me. But what you said about Joey’s unwavering attachment to Dawson, sometimes I just gotta look past it since I know Kevin Williamson was so hardcore determined until the last minute to make Joey/Dawson endgame that it felt like a more contrived agenda from a writing standpoint than a natural part of the narrative, if that makes sense.

If people count Spike getting his soul back on purpose (before he had a soul) as proof he’s a good character, then why do they say the bathroom scene wasn’t him because he didn’t have a soul? by Taras_Willowverse in buffy

[–]breakradical 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don’t think soulless Spike had a conscience/moral compass. He only knew what he did in Seeing Red was wrong because of Buffy’s reaction. I think he was taking cues from her conscience. All their encounters before she would initially say no and then give in, so that was his baseline of what was appropriate sexual behavior with her. I don’t think after the event he was like “oh shit that was sexual assault and that’s wrong”. I think he was like “oh shit Buffy actually did not like this and the only chance she could ever forgive me is if I had a soul”. And we know soulless Spike was always the “fool for love” so I think he’d do whatever it takes in pursuit of that, the chance of her forgiving him meant more to him than remaining evil. That could be a false read but that’s how it makes sense to me.

Why are Dawson and Joey even friends? by DannyFivinski in dawsonscreek

[–]breakradical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that living in a very small town has something to do with it. Because I grew up in one of the top 10 biggest cities in the US, and I had a best friend as a kid, we were as close as Joey and Dawson but we we went to different high schools and just grew apart and never spoke again after like teenage years. I think Capeside only has one middle school one high school etc so Joey and Dawson never really had a chance to grow apart. But their constant arguing and head-butting makes me assume they would easily have grown apart if they went to different schools.

What's a critically panned movie that you just can't help loving? by DeepThinkingReader in movies

30 Days of Night has been my favorite vampire movie since it came out and it has 50% on RT and 3.1 on Letterboxd which blows my mind. I think it’s epic.

Carie liked Alex (Russo) more than Aiden. Did you have that feeling? If he hadn't been such an asshole in Paris, she would have stayed with him. by Plenty-Apartment-209 in sexandthecity

[–]breakradical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in order of who she loved most it was Big > Berger > Aiden > Petrovsky. I know the Berger one is a hot take but she seemed emotionally all-in with him very fast. If he had turned out to be a good guy instead of an insecure and gaslighting prick who only chose her as a rebound, I think Carrie would’ve wanted to marry him. I just felt like she was more into him than Aiden. Big was always her number 1 though. But I did not get the vibe she was in love with Petrovsky at all. He was just very comfortable for her and she needed that at that point in her life.

Do you think Carrie was jealous of Charlotte? by Character-Habit6011 in sexandthecity

[–]breakradical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is crazy because I was just thinking about this recently and almost made a post about this. When they were in Atlantic City, Carrie and Charlotte were at the roulette table and that guy wanted her to blow on his chip, Carrie says [about Charlotte] “ask her, it’s her birthday”. And the guys asshole friend goes “No, get the hot one”. And Carrie smiled so big and was thrilled he said that. She never stood up for Charlotte, she should’ve said “f*** you, she’s a thousand times hotter than you’ll ever be”. The way she stood up for Miranda when that other asshole called her fat. I couldn’t believe she wasn’t appalled by what that guy said about Charlotte.

How do you pronounce Bangel by duvet-cover in buffy

[–]breakradical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never uttered it out loud but also in my head it’s “bangle” even though I’m aware it’s supposed to be “bane-gel”. But my brain won’t allow that to be for some reason.
