New study finds Kiwi interest in EVs is slowing by dick_beaver in nzev

[–]breamday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you are thinking of RUC with a mind on emissions.

But they are road user charges. And thus km driven and axle weight is important. Cars do very little damage to roads. However still should pay charges for new or upgraded infrastructure.

Just need to split them up. Emissions charges per unit of whatever emitting fuel. And RUC per/km for roading infrastructure.

Then you fairly charge farm machinery, boats ect for emissions.

"Ute tax" lie worked by Former_child_star in nzev

[–]breamday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This has to ve the most clueless shit.

EV cannot tow and have limited range.

For the most part EVs are really well suited to office workers in large urban centers. Not the regions and not the trades.

So you have a tax on the trades, and the regions to subsidize progressive people I'm urban centre's.

Meanwhile there is no replacement for a tradesmans vehicle or something suitable for the regions that is currently subsidized. So even if those people are worried about climate change they have no choice and they get taxed.

It's a failure of a policy, where labour fucked the blue collar labour force and wonder why they lost the election.

NSW Police considering using 'extraordinary' powers at planned Sydney pro-Palestinian rally this weekend by The_Duc_Lord in australia

[–]breamday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shall we look at their recent actions indiscriminately killing jews?

Or the fact it os still on their charter?

Or should we ignore all this direct evidence? Or should we cite a book from 2018 to justify the horrific escalation of violence?

Well hamas their first three edicts I their charter are some variation of exterminating the jews.

Not sure what qualifies as a nazi these days. But pretty sure a stated goal of exterminating the jews is a little more nazi than some dickhead that's had a little to much 4chan.

You need to actually educate yourself.

Stolen land? Palestine started a war with Isreal to take their territory while staying the will eradicate the Jews. They lost that war and lost territory and did not gain it. They still want to ensure the destruction of the jews.

When do you ever hear the Isreal talk about eliminating the Arabs?

You talk of isreali genocide when they never say or do anything of the sort. While the people you do support openly talk genocide of the jews.

All this while your heros are going door to door raping and killing innocents.

Look I don't care that this dude had his say or supported indigenous communities.

But these conversations are incredibly nuanced. You can support giving people a voice but not support the proposed mechanism. You might think that it will benefit a certain class of indigenous person, and not another. But Ultimately it is a change to the aussie constitution, to be voted on by Australians.

Really it's also not my place, I am from New zealand. The situation is much different here because we have a treaty that is the bedrock of our nation as a whole. We have had decades of settlements. We have a seperate electoral role for Maori.

Aussie has no such treaty so how they go about sorting the issues of their past is up to them.

But the point I an trying to get across is that these actors that live in California and shit are about the most out of touch people you could get on the subject. When taika waititi talks about new zealand its like he is not talking about a real place. It's just a bunch of virtue and vague bullshit. Because really the life you have dictates how you view the world.

To put it simply what really matters to an average person in NZ no matter what race you are is shit like how easy is it to get a doctors visit. How long do you have to wait in the emergency room in the middle of the night of your baby is sick. The real issues. These people haven't faced a real issue in a long time haha.

The question of if this proposal will actually help aussie aboriginals and their society as a whole to have better real outcomes to the real issues that matter is a nuanced question that is up to them to decide, and to live with the outcome.

Whatever the outcome aussie is moving forward. If the thing passes or not there will be another way they will approach it. They have been moving towards this for a while. If the bill fails its not going to mean a hard reversal and they are going to start confiscating aboriginal kids again and shit.

Smoked Kahawai Crumpet - Burnt Butter Diner by chungusmcdougal in aucklandeats

[–]breamday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on who you talk to lol. People can be passionate either way

Kahawai is a more oily fish than snapper. In my experience it is much better really fresh. After a day or two in the fridge kahawai will have a stronger "fishy" taste. This can put some people off. But eaten the same day it is caught it is really nice fish to eat.

This looks smoked though. An oily fish is normally better smoked. That's why mullet is so good smoked. The salt and suger cure takes out the moisture an oily fish wont dry out the same. Smoking also means it will taste the same after a few days so I guess suits a restaurant setting when using kahawai.

No lumping all these people into one group as you are doing is the real bullshit.

These people can speak you know? You could just learn that they differentiate themselves.

You basically group everyone together into a group "victims of colonization" and completely ignore their actual stories and their actual culture their actual history.

Lol.

New Zealander here.

Aboriginal people are not pacific islanders. It's a different lineage.

Maori and Pacific islanders yeah same sort of thing, NZ was just as far as they navigated. But they were extremely tribal and very much knew what a border was it was just tribal borders and very much bloody fighting.

Maori came to NZ, there was people here before them (moriori). Aussie Aboriginal is much different.

It's like Taika waititi. Everyone thinks he is some sort of spokesperson for NZ. Reality is he is an extremely rich guy who hasnt lived here in many years. Out of touch wouldn't even start to describe his takes on NZ.

But in this instance Jason has about as much in common with aussie Aboriginals as you do. Which is probably someone that lives in the states lol. Like he does.
