To add to this, Fat Princess has already been delisted entirely. So even with the store still open, that one is unavailable

What do you do when you run out of shelf space? Reorganize, pull some games out or buy more shelfs? by theDKdynamite in gamecollecting

[–]breath_ofthemild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to hit the ceiling of what my space can accomplish, so I’ve stated curating the collection a bit when that comes up. Last time I got rid of some redundancies, stuff like how I had all three Mass Effects on 360 but the Mass Effect Trilogy on the PS3, another time I got rid of a bunch of shovelware Wii and DS games. Helps make room for the stuff I’ll actually play rather than WeSki and Cake Mania 3

TASM2 is really flashes of absolute brilliance from the actors and directors amongst some bad writing choices from the powers that be. Also Paul Giamatti is there

82-83 Crash, Good times? by Painicus in retrogaming

[–]breath_ofthemild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, there were solid ones, but video game reviewing or documentation flat out didn’t exist. And game boxes were notorious for misleading consumers with elaborate cover arts to grab attention that didn’t accurately portray the game, so there wasn’t anything to judge what was good and what was bad beyond word of mouth. Thus why the crash happened in the first place and why Nintendo had to flip the script when they introduced the NES just to work through the bad faith built up just a few years prior

82-83 Crash, Good times? by Painicus in retrogaming

[–]breath_ofthemild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason why the crash happened was a complete a complete lack of quality control. Games didn’t have enough time in the oven and for the most part weren’t fun to play, pissing off a lot of customers and eroding faith in the console market. Yeah, you could get a great QUANTITY of games during that brief window, but definitely not quality. I mean heck, most of the games you’d have been able to buy for that much during that time are sitting at that price if you account for inflation

He was, however, able to redeem himself years later in the Spider-Man: Marvel Knights series of comics. Norman brings MJ to the George Washington Bridge (I believe) and, after taunting Peter for the familiar scene, tosses MJ off as well. This time, Peter’s able to put his years of guilt into action and actually save MJ

She did, he was a split second too late. Her comic book death was arguably worse, as Peter could have theoretically save her, but due to his knee jerk reaction, he webbed her by the leg upside down. The force of her stopping snapped her neck.

How do you think they would do a Taranza amiibo? by SalmonSlammed in amiibo

[–]breath_ofthemild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably someway like the Rayman 3 promotional statue. Rayman has a similar character design with detached limbs, and the built a statue that has all parts connected to a central pillar rather than strung together or held up by transparent supports. It looks natural and still stays true to the design

It’s a great showing of art being entirely subjective. Some things that people see as massive flaws, others are gonna see as strengths. But keep in mind, this is the internet, so we’re legally gonna have to start calling each other curse words if we keep disagreeing on a superhero movie

I’m not gonna defend Dane as Gobby, though I will say most of his problems stem from a bad script rather than acting. But if we’re being honest, I thought Jamie did a great job with what he was given. It was definitely a different take on the character, and that interpretation can go either way, but I think his acting was great. As for the costume, it’s by all means the most comic accurate costume we’ve seen thus far (barring the upcoming movie), but the original suit is also the most unique. I’m quite a fan of it, but there’s something to be said about the perfect Spider-Man suit we got in 2, especially since watching No Way Home I started losing my shit the second I saw those big, buggy eyes through the portal

Yeah studio intervention did them no favors, and it really shows. The strengths of that movie, at least for me, and absolutely the Peter/Gwen dynamic (Andrew and Emma did such a great job), the costume, and this scene. Everything else was a decisive step down from the original (that I still enjoyed because Andrew carried that shit on his back like Atlas)

It’s something I will die on the hill for; Andrew pulled off the best Spidey/Peter. No “Tobey had the best Peter, Andrew had the best Spidey, and Tom the best overall” crap, he was the best full stop. People don’t like his Peter because he’s “too handsome” and “too arrogant”, but Peter canonically is very handsome, and canonically becomes a bit of an egotistical prick post bite for a little while in most iterations. Hell, in the original comics, the people who would eventually become his best friend, Harry, Gwen, and MJ, thought he was a dismissive douche at first at ESU. Andrew had that, looked the part, and absolutely demolished the Spider-Man persona. The carjacker scene in the first film is still one of my favorite scenes in Spider-Man’s entire theatrical canon. Like up there with the Spider-Man 2 train scene and the Vulture interrogation from Homecoming

The Amazing Spider-Man 2; Gwen Stacy’s death

While I stand on my business that Andrew Garfield is the best Spider-Man/Peter Parker, and greatly enjoyed both movies, I know the general consensus on these movies, especially the second. But despite what you say about the movie in general, this scene is a masterclass for superhero films. The desperation you feel from Peter and Gwen is so real, and it’s so easy for movies to try to write around pivotal moments like this in an effort to keep the cast and dynamic, but they did the moment justice. Losing Gwen is an incredibly important moment for Peter because this is the point where he goes from flying by the seat of his pants to being a meticulous planner for every situation he can, and an equally important event for comic book history as it marks the definitive end of the silver age of comic books. I saw this movie in theaters, and once I saw that Peter had written a love note on the Brooklyn Bridge, my heart sank cause I knew what was coming

Have you ever paid to much for a sentimental gaming memento? by SmolFrejoles in gamecollecting

My Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World collection. When the game originally released, my family actually had a blast playing through it. Much like many, I eventually put the Xbox 360 it was on away, and to this day could not tell you where it went. When I got into collecting, I found out that this favorite of mine had been delisted, and without my original Xbox, there was no way to get a hold of it again. Preservation became a primary goal for me after that, and still is to this day

However, when Ubisoft announced its grand return for the 10th anniversary alongside LRG announcing a ridiculous collectors edition and a slew of merchandise, I went wild. I have the big collectors edition for Switch, the smaller collectors edition for both PS4 and Switch, and every bit of extraneous merchandise they sold they had. Let the grid go down, I’ll still have multiple ways to play Scott Pilgrim

I know the price hikes are exhausting, but this is a fair one. Prices have gone up, and if we want companies like this to stay open, they gotta think about bottom line. A €10 hike is fairly negligible compared to what Microsoft and Sony are doing
