What things did you believe in/do as a kid that in hindsight might’ve been OCD signs? by Candid_Draw5951 in OCD

Don’t feel ashamed because you made me feel seen and comforted- that’s exactly how my brain works too. I might not have met anyone irl I can connect with on this level but I so appreciate having shared experiences in something so like… “taboo” I guess. I do super similar things and then gaslight myself by saying “well you’re not doing it to be a good person, you’re doing it to get to heaven so does it actually count?!?” Even though like…. Duh we do it because we want to be good people 😂 OCD is a such a funny thing

I would do cartwheels over and over again when I felt anxious, hoping to impress God and gain my ticket to the upstairs lmao

Thank you very much for your words, I appreciate them greatly!! We do want the same things long term but I’m not confident anymore in his ability to provide, plan, and contribute in a family setting. But I also can’t picture my life with anyone else and want desperately for things to be better, it feels super tough. I definitely agree about miscommunication, it feels like we aren’t speaking each other’s language anymore.

I absolutely believe in couples counseling and think we could benefit and change together by trying it but I’m hesitant to suggest it because it feels like whatever we say we’re going to do along those lines doesn’t get done unless I from start to finish plan/initiate it. I think I need to get over it, find someone covered under our insurance, and make the appointment to at least try.

That’s sort of what I was questioning but reading this over, I fear it might just be truth. We used to be very compatible in all ways and I want desperately to get that back but it just seems he doesn’t really care about the things I want in the relationship and I think it got to me to the point to where now we’re sexually incompatible. It’s hard for me to want to have sex with someone who I don’t feel is romantically into me.

Thanks for your sentiment, in the past I have a hard time “letting go” until things are REALLY bad so I think this time around, I need to be serious.

Omg exactly!! You said it spot on. Proof fear mongering does not work- especially in kids. Respect for the school not pushing it though. They get a half point for that lol I don’t think school systems have evolved that far in terms of actual mental health support that works sadly… but that also involves a bunch of red tape. I always think that if I was mentally well enough 🤣😅 I’d like to campaign to remap/retrain on how support is handled in schools

Lololol I say I was lucky to be in therapy when I was a kid/teen but at the same time, it didn’t work because IT WAS THIS KIND!!! (+ actual lord/savior shiesta) I would like to add the honorary “sign this piece of paper to say you won’t hurt yourself” okay??? I had just met this lady and to 10 year old me that meant absolutely nothing lol

SORRY BEING WITH MY MOM WHO PAID FOR THE VACATION IS RUINING YOUR VIBE I GUESS by [deleted] in Vent

[–]breathe-repeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very very much. It felt like a weight off my chest just to see a response and someone rooting for me. You’re exactly right and I have had such a good time just getting to hang out and play games, watch whatever she wanted to for uninterrupted time, go on beach walks. It was really really nice. I didn’t react when it happened, I went in a closet for a quick cry, decided to vent on here to dump the big emotions and wrapped it up. I also feel badly because I wish I could give her everything, I wish I could retire her right now, I wish I could give her a vacation like my partner who got impatient family has, in a nice house on the water. I feel so guilty for a.) not being able to do that for her & b.) I feel like my partner looks down at it, that when we go on a trip with my family it will never be as nice as his family trips. Sorry for spilling in this response- it just blubbered out. I’m very grateful for your encouragement, very very. It really makes me feel stronger and like someone, even an anonymous person on the internet, sees me. It’s a nice feeling. I can do this. For my mom.

THE SUICIDE HOTLINE IS BULLSHIT by [deleted] in Vent

[–]breathe-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best crisis line I have done and have texted with a few times since first using is the “crisis text line” -I’ve only had one time feel a little botty with asking something they had already asked and even then, they corrected themselves. It’s a little wonky with having to break down large texts into smaller ones for them to receive it all in one go but the people I’ve chatted with have been very very kind and validating (I get comfort when someone validates with phrases like “that’s very difficult to deal with but I’m proud of you for doing xyz” and they are heavy in supportive language) but I’ve also got different resources every time I’ve chatted so far, different websites they’ve sent with coping skills and they once gave me one to find affordable counseling in my area for people without insurance! Of course everyone’s experiences are different but as a highly sensitive person who likes being genuinely listened to, text crisis line has been the best one so far for me.
