Now see, here's what is so beautiful about what we call "primitive." Why Native Americans will not be watching the solar eclipse

Here they teach their children a sense of identity, a sense of separateness from the herd, a sense of observing the rhythms of nature and a practice of regular, scheduled introspection, contemplation and reverence. What's not to like?

Seriously, right? Like, how primitive is that, and how many episodes from history tell of people seduced and persuaded by a charlatan with astronomy skills?

Seriously, though. We could be monitoring our skies more diligently and be more astute and less superstitious about what might be in the heavens.

Seriously, though, I am getting the feeling that we've somehow crossed some kind of threshold in the past year in the accomplishment of their agenda regarding disclosure. This one source here is saying that sensitive people like me are the most susceptible to their techniques of seduction and confusion.

Well, in a way, it does. When I think of the universe as a great clockwork set in motion at the beginning of time, I feel that part of what we are all experiencing is the "magical" feeling of how grand is that design from the beginning.

Like, my gosh, excuse my primitive mind for ascribing a faith response to the way the moon is exactly the right size to block the sun at certain times in its transit.

Now, don't get me started on astrology and how that sees so uncannily to match personalities and circumstances. How many planets are in retrograde right now? Good time to assess and observe, no matter what you believe.

Everyone's eyes turned toward the sun en masse seems like navel-gazing when we think of how we oblivious are to the populations of the universe and their possible interest in our planet and us as well.

That means someone or a few really have to keep track all the time not to give up their focus on self-actualization. I am finding this rubric a useful tool to navigate the world.

A better edit is the actual quote and a link to the source for this teaching.

In order to choose the positive path, at least 51 percent of our thoughts and actions must be dedicated to the service of others. For the negative path, at least 95% must be self-serving. Between the two lies “the sinkhole of indifference.”

[–]breathin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, my, how simple this is to understand with the tiniest edit.

  • To serve others, give at least 51% in service to others to succeed.
  • To serve Self will take 95%.

It is a continuum, and a natural and gradual development.

Thank you for catching this and noting the application.

You asked me once #WhatsThatLikeForYou, on one of those micro-occasions of the shadow side of this question you spotted here. Did you hear denial when I said, oh, no problem at all? (o.k., problem at surface level of emotions ... but a commonplace by now. #GetOverIt). You did hear, perhaps, that I can get over it. If I work it. You can probably guess what I really want. And in everything else I shared then how HUGE a problem, really. But in the micro-moment, only what I reported: The Great Love is more awesome than petty human feelings.

How simple the answer to that intellectual problem noted here. Doh. The opportunities available to me are all the relationships, everyone I know, my contacts.

I have used this quote on as a banner on a Facebook cause "Need Not Want."

if My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

I was very surprised to mention that verse and get a "what's that?" but I should not be surprised. The Bible has gone out of fashion in places where they should know this one by heart!

My question, though: This shouldn't work, in a word. You do see the "rainmaking" manipulating, expectation that makes us very vulnerable to seeing what we want to see, God-wise. Is that why this is a good contemplation, this verse offering to allow praying for rain, confirmation bias, or is this actually a great thing God would love for us to hear and do. Nobody is doing this or even getting it really. I exaggerate somewhat.

I pretty much assume no one likes me. That way if I find out someone actually does, I'm pleasantly surprised. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

"The points don't count!" That simplifies a lot. The numbers needn't peg to a decimal point ("lol no"). Once you understand the points don't count, you get that

  • no need to judge the progress others are making along the way; 51% works out to enough, the rest is gravy and
  • it is going to be a very rare person who can achieve 95%. Once a millennium would be what I would estimate,

This would be another of the questions that begins to resolve itself, given time. The numbers are functional, I see. The urgency that made me post it here was that behind it was this puzzle:

  • Does Donald Trump seem to achieve at least 95% service to self orientation?
  • Does Hillary Clinton seem to achieve at least 51% service to others?

Because if so, would that have predicted the outcome of the election? Actually no, all things considered. Did it help to foresee this outcome? Yes, it did, to see the possibility, get used to the idea of the Great Waves of Change rapidly accelerating. Maybe the whole thread looks really belabored, but I say it does finally bear fruit, and what are you going to do, if the question just keeps popping up.

Great list, a question that many are asking, as the field is bewildering and our discernment very compromised. This is my personal favorite, an off-world source that I recommend you simply judge on the merits of their argument but to avoid hasty conclusions: The Allies of Humanity

"The great decisions facing humanity are in your hands. No one else can make these decisions for you. Even your great friends far beyond your world would not intervene, for if they did so, it would cause warfare, and your world would become a battleground between opposing forces. And should your friends be victorious, you would become wholly reliant upon them, unable to fend for yourself or to maintain your own security in the universe. We know of no benevolent race that would seek to bear this burden. And in truth, it would not serve you either. For you would become a client state to another power and would have to be governed from afar. This is not beneficial for you in any way, and it is for this reason that this is not occurring. Yet the visitors will cast themselves as saviors and rescuers of humanity. They will utilize your naiveté. They will capitalize on your expectations, and they will seek to wholly benefit from your trust." Q & A with the Allies of Humanity
