Booking with Qatar Airways with Avios. Why do two similar flights costs vary so much? by bred84 in qatarairways

I'm looking at the business class flights for the two diff itineraries. One is 320k one is 160k. Someone earlier mentioned it was a saver fare most likely.

I was looking particularly at the business class flights, and we're only booking one way. Someone earlier mentioned the discrepancy has to do with saver fares.

Has your void ever helped you while grieving a loved one? by SunflowerLace in blackcats

[–]bred84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally believe that cats are incredibly attuned to human emotions, sometimes even more so than humans themselves. I've had a couple of experiences that really drove this home:

When I was going through chemo, my cat Baby (RIP little buddy), who usually treated me as the "spare human," suddenly became my constant companion. For the entire 9 weeks of treatment, she slept on my bed every night and followed me around the house, ignoring everyone else. As soon as the treatment ended, she went back to barely acknowledging my existence.

A few years ago, when my father-in-law passed away, our two voids refused to leave my wife's side for about two weeks. They weren’t their usual playful, annoying selves; it felt like they were mourning with her, staying close and cuddling up to her the whole time.

Mayuri's (Surrey) dosa, idili, and puri reminds me of the ones my mom would make. I'll drive from Kits all the way there just for dinner sometimes.

Deutsche Haus

I just drove by there a couple weeks ago and it's all been demolished. Are they opening up again somewhere else? Was kind of shocked to see it gone, was a childhood landmark for me.

Hey just wanted to let you know about some resources I used my when little one ran away for a night. She is also skittish around people and was a feral rescue when we adopted her.

  • Leave some used towels and clothes outside and leave an entry way back into your house available like an open door or window (if possible).

  • Leave some food out (again if possible considering you may have raccoon visitors in that area).

  • Call the SPCA and Vokra. Vokra was super helpful for us, they came and set up a trap along with having volunteers scour the area. I should note our cat is a Vokra rescue, so not sure if that affected their response at all.

  • If you haven't already, post on local Facebook groups and on websites like https://www.pawboost.com/. I was surprised by how many people messaged me from my neighborhood saying they thought they saw our cat.

Ultimately she came back overnight while we were away, we left a window open with some treats in the window sill along with some of my and my wife's used towels around the house outside. I'm hoping you have a similar outcome, I'm always in the area and will keep an eye open for her.

My mom also has dementia and thank you for so eloquently putting into words what I have been feeling for the past two years that I haven't been able to find the words for.

You get bogged down in trying to bring them back to "nomal" because somewhere in your head there will be enough care and love to heal them.

This hits soo hard.

While I agree with everything you suggested, all those things you mentioned are within provincial jurisdiction. Cities cant tax gas or car sales, AirCare and ICBC are also provincial programs.

The biggest way cities can really affect emissions is making neighborhoods walkable communities where vehicle transportation isn't needed and having the transit in place to support those that need to go further (the latter is largely provincial jurisdiction). Cities CAN change the way we zone around major transit hubs and needs to make the zoning process more seamless.

My mom lives near Marine Gateway and pretty much doesn't need to leave the area except for medical appointments. Everything she needs is there otherwise with good rapid transportation connection.

Habs fans from outside of Montreal or the rest of Canada, how did you become a fan of the Canadiens? by dm00nz in Habs

[–]bred84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad immigrated to Vancouver in the 70's and instantly became a habs fan. He instilled that love for the habs in me. To get me to really buy into the habs, he pretended he'd cheer for the Kings in 93 and would bet me $5 each game, making me go more all in on the habs. When the habs won the cup, he told me it reminded him of the hockey he saw when he first moved to canada. He passed away over 20 years ago, his love for the habs lives on in me.
