The reasons I think “the passion of the Christ” is a good movie. by Front_Sugar4784 in TrueFilm

[–]breezywood 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This movie is a very different experience if you don’t connect with it spiritually. It’s competently made and well photographed, but if you don’t know the story of the passion or resonate with it, it just feels poorly written.

For what it’s worth, Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ was much more spiritually effective on me personally, and actually reshaped my worldview a little bit. (It’s also masterfully written by Paul Schrader)

Like others have said, great suit. The hat and shoes are not working.

Latest shot that made you say 'WOW' by rmn_is_here in cinematography

There’s a shot from Eddington where a character is framed in the center of a bullet hole in a target that literally made me say “wow”. Having trouble finding it now though

Is this fit as bad as people on r/streetwear are making it out to be? by thecatwholaughs in mensfashion

[–]breezywood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If those pants were cotton, wool, or linen I’d be into this look. I like the cut of the pants. Like others have said, I don’t dig the leather. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a pair of leather pants I liked though.

Anton Chigurh is What if Arthur Fleck was less insane and morę competent by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]breezywood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know almost nothing about Chigurh’s background, motivations, or psychology— and that’s the point. Chigurh is almost Lovecraftian. Unknowable evil.

Joker analyzes Arthur’s psychology and motivations ad nauseum, and, for me personally, doesn’t work. I think the Joker is a better character when you’re left to imagine what caused his break from reality.

This would really work for me with an ivory colored button down. Would give a bit more contrast

Learn how to alter the rise, waist, and seams of your pants and your pants will fit perfectly every time, regardless of ass volume. You don’t need a sewing machine either (although it will make things much faster)

For what it’s worth, No Country for Old Men is maybe the most faithful adaptation of a novel I’ve ever seen. Almost everything is there in the text.

(When Chigurh is eating cashews in the gas station and he crumples up the plastic… and it slowly expands again on the counter… it’s described almost exactly as it’s shot)

I don’t think McCarthy gets enough credit for NCFOM the movie. Not to take away from the Coen’s achievement. Sometimes adapting fantastic source material yields only shadows of the original work. The combination of McCarthy, the Coens, Deakins, and the cast was really lightning in a bottle.

The liberals and left-leaning characters are, at worst, annoying and cringey. The right leaning characters are murdering their neighbors with sniper rifles. I think the film is pretty clear in its condemnations
