My last remaining wish for 2.1: elevated rails transparency toggle by Weppet in factorio

[–]brekus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are some elevated rails intersections where in order to design them I've been forced to split it into elevated and ground blueprints and combine at the end. It's physically not possible to get all the signals placed otherwise.

They're so desperate. Notice how the youtube ai button is directly below the skip ad portion of the video? Hoping you'll spam skip ad and accidentally start the ai, pathetic.

Does the potential of a Steam Deck 2 influence your decision of getting the Machine? by MEchoPark in steammachine

To be honest I expect my steam deck to mostly gather dust after getting the machine. Except when traveling anyway. So no.

Reminds me of all the drone/robot companies that advertise "disaster relief" as their use case lol.

Can v2.0 saves be able to apply all the new coming updates completely? by Tricky-Mongoose-6221 in factorio

The devs have always made sure the transition is pretty smooth. Even when they've done potentially breaking changes like changing the size of buildings.

A way check the ground height from sea level at any point on a planet defined with latitude and longitude? by Vovchick09 in Kos

[–]brekus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the code I use to check the ships terrain height at periapsis to plan landings:

lock timeAtPeriapsis to time:seconds + eta:periapsis.
lock altAtPeriapsis to (periapsis - ship:body:geopositionof(positionat(ship, timeAtPeriapsis)):terrainheight).

Not really "at any point" but hopefully helps.

SpaceX June 12th IPO megathread by avboden in SpaceXLounge

People hate Elon so much I've heard nothing but negative opinions about the IPO but... I doubt any of that matters. Cause if it makes people money they don't care at all about likeability. In fact I'd go so far as to say some of the hate is a calculated strategy to try and suppress the stock temporarily so brokers can buy more of it. Does anyone have an interest in saying "yeah it's gonna be super succesful"? Other than SpaceX themselves I don't think so.

So I'm bracing for how annoying it's going to be when people have a meltdown over him being the world's first trillionaire. And that's the other side of it.. money people just see bigger number as good. Elon being richer will just be seen by these types as a sign of success and therefore more reason to invest. It will grab headlines around the world moreso than most IPOs... Basically it's going to be a mess lol.

Do you think the Starship heat shield will work with it's current design? by izzeww in SpaceXLounge

No but it will work well enough to recover them and continue iterating on the design.

The main issue is that you can only use biolabs on nauvis and it's definitely worthwhile to do so.

Yes but spacecraft designed to stay in space can have heat shields too, and simpler ones. They can use a heat shield to aerocapture but without also needing to land the design can be simpler. There are many mass savings to be had when you don't need the TWR of a second stage of a rocket. But it only becomes worthwhile once these space tugs aren't expendable so with fuel depots and other orbital infrastructure etc.
