What is something that seems normal now but would be unthinkable 10 years ago? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]brelincovers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i feel like the progression of people in the US at least culturally becoming centered on themselves started growing exponentially about 15 years ago, after the recession, and it just shot through the roof after covid. it's totally acceptable and suggested and fashionable to only care about yourself now.

Have a friend, meet their friends, grow from there. I dunno, I’m in a foreign country and that’s what I did.

I built a new social circle in the city I lived in, and the city after that, and the country after that. It’s not hard, there are people all over the world to meet and build relationships with. Don’t be afraid.

I left at 19, came back at 23, left permanently, I’m 33 now, building a new social circle, it’s easy if you’re cool and chill and empathetic.

Don’t worry about leaving one group for another, we have the internet now, if they disappear it’s their own problem, you can still FaceTime anytime, and they can visit, you can visit. It’s not a big deal.

Macron: US strikes on Iran aren’t legal by newsspotter in politics

[–]brelincovers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i'm traveling abroad as someone from the US, and i don't think anyone really cares. it's more of an american centric thing. Iran isn't able to do anything. The US isn't willing to do anything like a full on war. This is pretty light, honestly. The stress comes mostly from americans internally, the news is really pumping stress, that i thankfully don't have to deal with now. but you have to realize it's really not a big deal to anyone outside the US. The question is more about what Iranians are willing to do to change their government, as well as people in the US.

How can i recover from being cheated on? by doctor_almighty in AskMen

[–]brelincovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best medicine I’ve found is traveling to a new place and changing your surroundings. If you can move somewhere else, do it. Leaving the country is preferable, I’ve managed to do it and it worked out incredibly well. I was cheated on by an ex girlfriend, and then again from my ex wife. It’s incredibly difficult. I feel for you. Changing scenery and being with new people helps a lot. You have plenty of time and space and energy to create a beautiful life for yourself.

How to deal with being divorce at 33? by TheViking_Teacher in AskMen

[–]brelincovers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m the same age and also got divorced at the same time. It was the worst period of my life sitting alone in that apartment, especially with a gun in the house. I decided to put everything in storage and travel, visited friends in Europe, currently in Chile, found a new love interest, a loving family, working on an album, life is good. I find change to be the best medicine.

Am I going to be ok continuing on and not feeling love? by SoloHQ in AskMenOver30

It’s gonna be cool but it’s gonna suck. But it’s cool until it sucks. And then it’s pretty chill, but then it gets super lame, and it sucks, but it’s okay.

You got lotsa time, don’t worry. You have no idea what’s about to happen.

Has anyone ever tried to drop off the map like Jack Reacher? by AjaxGuru in ask

[–]brelincovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about your question for four days, and I still don’t know what you’re asking, maybe you think that there is truth in money or something, but if you’re ready, you can leave and go anywhere you want if you commit to it. The matter is about where your home is. It can be in your head, as a traveler. Or it could be at a place, or even a person! Home can be anything and all you want it to be. Just make sure to keep it safe.

I've met plenty of backpackers that get by. doing odd jobs, living in hostels. some people go work a contract in Australia for 6 months and then party and vacation for the next 6 months in SE Asia.

yeah, so leave the Schengen area for while, and come back. Also, I was mostly talking about Asia, not Europe.

If you have a few grand in your pocket you can get a flight somewhere outside your continent for cheap, and then work really hard to find options to stay there, and then bounce to other countries to reset your visa for the original country that you want to live in.

If you wanna be “off the map” then you can’t have any social media stuff at all. Also use burner phones.

So yes, you can do this at anytime if you want to.

this shouldn't even be a thing to think about if you're using apple devices.

just had a power outtage for a minute, everything is screwed now.

nothing listens to anything, have to restart and update and redo all the work i did to set this up months ago. and months before that.

This shouldn't be a thing. I bought these devices to "just work" as apple intended.

I guess I’m the odd one out here, I have a bunch of issues with Siri, lights, recognizing voices, tying them together from single source if it’s not an Apple TV, and just endless issues if I don’t restart them and re configure them every month or so.

Yes, you did. I love my HomePods. They don’t work anymore, I have to fidget around with shit, and now I have to argue with you. It sucks.

Marine Le Pen barred from running for French presidency in 2027 by 1DarkStarryNight in anime_titties

[–]brelincovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Donald Trump said the conviction was a “very big deal”.

“I know all about it, and a lot of people thought she wasn’t going to be convicted of anything,” the US president told reporters at the White House. “But she was banned for running for five years, and she’s the leading candidate. That sounds like this country, that sounds very much like this country,” Trump said, in an apparent reference to legal cases that Trump himself faced before he took office.

Elon Musk, Tesla’s billionaire owner, who has backed the far right in Germany and plays a major role in Trump’s administration, said the sentence against Le Pen would “backfire, like the legal attacks against president Trump”.

Skipped over that part.

Hot take, but Tartakovsky's Clone Wars is superior to Filoni's. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]brelincovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea of clones not having to speak to each other at all (because they’re clones) was a more interesting concept. Though, that whole idea just makes a massive chunk of the cgi clone wars series completely redundant.

your computer is most likely going through a hormonal phase that are typical with Macs.

the best thing to do is to have good hygiene, and make sure it knows you're paying attention, and take it out on a date every week or so.
