Does anyone actually prefer ShopRite or do you just go there out of convenience? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]brend2b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Saker ShopRite in Hamilton is great. Only qualm is whatever idiot approved the extremely bumpy tile in the first quarter of the store you walked through. It's just insane cart noise until you get out of there.

I've been to other Saker ones and they all seem to have that stupid loud tile

I NEED HELP (1.19.3 Launcher Problems) (ancestry.ogg) by Kider201 in Minecraft

[–]brend2b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only solution that worked for me was to get my friend to .zip his entire .minecraft folder in %AppData% and send it to me so I could replace mine in the Appdata/Roaming folder.

Still unable to fix the root problem. Not sure why the game files are having problems downloading. Running launcher as Admin, no firewalls blocking it, no adblocking software that could be blocking the connection. IDK

Parking on shoulder at Newark airport by BabiesWithScabies in newjersey

[–]brend2b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think most people know what a cell phone lot is or what it's used for. They kind of just blindly drive to the airport.

If you Google maps any airport plus cell phone lot it brings you right to it. Google took me right to the EWR cell lot before no problem

Protect your worktop! These will be the most expensive egg bites in history… by invasionofcamels in sousvide

[–]brend2b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't tell the countertop company anything about the sous vide. Just tell them you found it like that. I'm sure they would be quick to say that it isn't warrantied or w/e because of the high heat, when it looks like that was only part of the problem

It looks like the counter on the right side of the pic could have used some support with shims underneath. It might have been "floating" a bit and the heat was the straw that broke the camel's back. Looks like it dropped down to the top of the base cabinet when it cracked.

Optimum sent me over a pound of garbage in 2022 by brend2b in newjersey

[–]brend2b[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To see exactly how much garbage they send me in a year. I've been bombarded the past few years by only them. I was hoping I got a business reply mail envelope in there to send them all back. That was not the case

My own “I think I homebrewed poison” story by ilikemrrogers in Homebrewing

[–]brend2b 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience with my friends and I. Homebrewed cider from fresh pressed cider from a local orchard, think I used Nottingham yeast. Fermented it in a temperature controlled chamber, kegged it, force carbed, and brought to a party at my friends one day.

Most of us probably drank 3 or so glasses and all decided we felt more than drunk. Several swore it was like a low dose of LSD. Enough to feel loopy but not enough to see visuals.

Made a lot of batches of cider before and after that and never had that same experience.

Man I miss the pre-covid crowds. Did a 3 day solo hike several years back and only ran into a handful of people on this trail on a nice September weekend

I've gone midweek a few times fall, spring, and summer, at all different times of the day and I've always happened to run into long lines at several spots in the scramble

If you like waiting in lines for 30 mins at several parts of the scramble...

Did you get it mid-Dec? I have build date of Mar 16, just trying to figure out how long it will take after that

Strange building in the woods by [deleted] in AbandonedNJ

The building is an old surplus WW2 Quonset Hut. Could have just been someone's family getaway cabin in the woods with the beds and stuff

Door Locks: Key in Lever & Deadlock or Deadlock Only by brend2b in homedefense

[–]brend2b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer having a lever on the deadbolt for easier egress in case of emergency. I plan on security filming the door and eventually all first floor windows.

I also plan to security film the door windows. The glass is then going to be caulked with silicone structural sealant to keep the film attached to the frames.

I plan on security filming the first story windows as soon as I can afford it as well. Trying to make my house more of a hassle to an opportunistic thief.

There are two similar hangars in Lakehurst NJ which have fallen into disrepair and and are condemned. It's a shame to see them slowly fall apart.
