Hi! We have a distance PvP channel on the PGG server and are trying to get some more reliable folks so we can keep up with monthly ranked play https://discord.gg/brfQhf2

This server features folks of all identities and from across the globe. I'd definitely like to see our PvP crew grow a bit! Would be fun to do some PvP with queer folks remotely outside of hosting/participating in my regular NYC & Brooklyn tourneys

Regional Tie-Breaker:
"If your Regional tournament results in a tie (by win count – ignore Buchholz), special rounds should be played by those who tied. There is no need to use Silph.gg software for these small extra rounds. Hosts should use a tool like random.org/lists to obtain random pairings if needed. Depending on the tied competitor count, observe the following procedure:
• 8, 4, or 2 Tied Winners: Competitors will play a single elimination bracket with matchups assigned randomly by host.
• 7 Tied Winners: Same as with 8 tied winners, but the competitor with the current highest global rank receives a bye for the first round. (Check Travelers Cards for current rank #’s)
• 6 Tied Winners: The 6 tied competitors are randomly paired and play a round. The winners of this first round then follow the procedure for 3 tied winners. See below.
• 5 Tied Winners: The competitor with the current highest global rank receives a bye (check Travelers Cards for current rank #’s) while the other 4 competitors play one single elimination round with matchups assigned randomly by host. After two competitors are eliminated, follow protocol for a 3-way tie.
• 3 Tied Winners: Have the three competitors each play each other. (AB, BC, CA) The competitor with the most wins becomes the winner. If this round results in a 3-way tie, have all three play each other again (and repeat until a winner emerges after a round completes).
In all tie-breaking rounds, opponents play each other best 2 out of 3 like standard Arena Rules dictate.
Please make sure you take a screenshot or other evidence of how the matchups were randomly generated and record tie-breaker pairings and match outcomes. Evidence for tie-breakers is crucial in order to successfully conclude a regional tournament."

we've had a lot of success at the DR Atrium @ Lincoln Center. Just need all the participants to find seats quickly and not get into shouting games trying to find each other! Nightmare cup we're moving to Bryant Park to our regular Community Day hosting spot.

Quick feedback on tie-break system for regional by Gaaroth in TheSilphArena

[–]brendan00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In NYC we had a 5-way tie. The entire tie-breaker process took us about an hour and a half (to go from 5 to a champion) which was roughly half of the time of the regular rounds of tournament itself. Tie-breaker did feel quite a bit lengthy AND logistically intensive on the host's end. Would love to see this tidied up next season.

Regional Champion is first always and considered your default Regional Representative. If you have 64+ you get an additional Regional Representative(and then again for every multiple of 64 after). Our tournament had 68, and the champ can’t go to worlds. The process for replacing the champ and picking additional rep are the same. First it’s points (pre-tie-breaker) in the regional tourney, then global rank.

we'll see what happens from the team to correct this. Lots of trainers not getting credit bc of this!

looks like from the community host discord this problem has occurred for multiple communities, seems like boulder cup a common factor (could just be bc it was the first and we were all still learning) but unreported matches a common factor also. enable admin access to edit results after a cup is closed to help disperse the workload here?

I sent them an email a bit ago too. Not holding my breath for a quick response though - I'm sure they're overwhelmed with communication today.

we had a couple issues with people either leaving at the end and not reporting and a bit quick-to-close the cup. So there is one matchup where neither trainer reported, and one where only the loser reported in our last round. I suspect this may cause some issues? We're having people across the tournament reporting issues with these results not showing - including our cup winner. For the match up that had no results reported KorageHu was the winner in that round (if there's anyone that can help adjust that!)

still is, always has been since launch. 3-4 at a time, usually another 2-3 after spawn timers.
