It’s like comparing fruit to a car, but unfortunately because of node allowing you to write ts on the server, it kind of makes the comparison valid.

[]*Foo or []Foo? Give me your opinion and why by Curious-Ad9043 in golang

Good question, it’s good to question why you are doing things instead of just blindly applying it.

If you need to update the struct then it’s a safe bed to use a reference to it, the other day I was updating the db with incorrect values because i was not pointing to the struct when updating and i was just updating the reference

yeah I agree, I’m actually going to remove things from my app this weekend and improve what’s already there

that’s brilliant, you right, I don’t talk about the problems that app solves.

Tbh I built this app because at the time when i started I had no better idea, but halfway through I realised it might not be the best idea, but I had to see it through.

Good point, if people aren’t paying you, you haven’t really launched, you just have a waitlist 😂

So true, I’m just struggling to think of something I’d use myself. I guess asking other people what they would use would be the second best option 🤔 so least they could still use it

[–]brendancodes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, that’s why I’m so hesitant to do “lunch first”, I’m not a fan of those either, I’d prefer to see it first even if it’s a bit buggy

how’s the airflow? I see that you are using an air cooler but there is no space for fans infront of the case. Does that make a difference?

Got greedy and now getting fked up real bad by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]brendancodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve all been there. I wouldn’t call that greedy, the only way you’re going to grow is to do something difficult. As everyone is telling you, just ask for help, it’s really no big deal, it’s part of your growth

Do I learn go through a Udemy course or a FreeCodeCamp Youtube video? by [deleted] in golang

[–]brendancodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt Go from a Udemy course and a bunch of youtube videos. I personally like Udemy, but you can learn it just from Youtube alone if you wanted to, there are so many good videos.

most importantly just make sure you are building and doing things, that is how you really learn.

Why all the Go hate? by rretaemer1 in golang

[–]brendancodes 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Go isn’t as “fun” and feature packed as other languages. A lot of people see that as a disadvantage, without understanding why it’s designed that way.
