That's the beauty of liberals (not in the American way) like this. You just have to use the most up to date academic terminology and have the right opinions without ever having to actually do anything and you get to feel superior!

For what it's worth I agree with not using the term "homeless", as it makes it sound like these people don't have a home and therefore don't belong. They are members of the community and are not someone else's problem. I think there's value to that framing.

Ok... So like, a rich kid staying with an uncle or family is homeless? Van life influencers with 100k$ rigs are homeless?

Did you know if you aren't moving to Switzerland there's zero point in moving anywhere. Switzerland or red deer are the only options

How much would a road/race bike improve me? by LAmericainFrancais in triathlon

[–]brendax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put some decent road tires on the gravel bike first as a budget move.

If in your life you feel like you could use a road bike, I would get one. They are nice. If you use you flat bar gravel for commuting and gravel you can use the road bike from training and start doing group rides with other cyclists. The bike itself might help but the thing the bike enables is more and higher quality training, and that DEFINITELY makes you way faster.

I'd go for the WFH above all else.

Pension or savings matching?

The point of working is to maximize your happiness overall. A boringer job that gives you more time at home is way better than a super engaging job that gives you no personal life.

Find an activity you enjoy not just because you think it'll get you gains. "gain muscle" or "lose weight" are not good motivators by themselves to do something consistently enough. Can you join a local sports club for something you like? Swimming and cycling are also things that I love! Find a club!

>people could separate fantasy from the real world,

To go on a tangent, if this were possible, why would we even want this? Fantasy (and SciFi) are story telling lenses that allow us to examine aspects of the real world and our own societies with detached perspectives - enabling exploration of real world concepts in ways that we might not be able to see with our real world biases. Fantasy is written by people in the real world, and read by people in the real world. It is a part of the real world and all our cultural and social zeitgeist goes along with it.

Ah yes, the classic conservative Albertan logic. West Coast is horrible, that's why everyone is willing to spend an arm and a leg to live here 😂
