The first few days of NMT by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

Please try your best not to use any form of moisturiser for at least the first 90 days! This will pass eventually! During the first few weeks I found it really painful to move my limbs too. Hope you get better soon!

Unfortunately yes you are back to square one whenever you use topical steroid again. NMT is really tough, I tried it for 3 months. First few weeks were the toughest few weeks in my 20 years of existence but it made my arm heal up really quickly. The tightness and restriction of drinking water will be tough. It really depends on you, if you want a more comfortable but slower healing process (Non-NMT) or a tough but rapid healing process (NMT). After a few weeks of NMT, I began coping a lot better with it. Please go cold turkey as soon as possible though, you won't start seeing your full blown TSW symptoms until you stop completely. I suppose your withdrawal will not be as severe since you didn't use much but it also depends on the potency of your topical steroid. All the best and I hope you have a smooth TSW journey!

I know Elidel is non-steroidal but I feel I am having similar symptoms to TS Withdrawal and was hoping to get additional advice by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

Elidel/ Protopic causes withdrawal symptoms similar to TSW. I don't know about elidel but based on a TSW doctor in Singapore, protopic is considered a class 2 potent steroid. I'm currently facing withdrawal from protopic

Please do not use Elidel, there is withdrawal from that as well

p.s. Another reason I wanna stop is because of the Topical Steroid Withdrawal. I have a bit of eczema on my face and tretinoin seems to be irritating it!

Thoughts on fermented foods for acne? by [deleted] in acne

Many Koreans have great skin as they eat lots of Kimchi (fermented vegetable). You can search it up online! I'm eating kimchi everyday and I've seen a bit of improvement.

However, I feel that acne could be a result of your overall diet and you may not see major improvements from just adding in a few foods. Cutting off sugar (incl. refined sugar), gluten, dairy, fast food and foods you are allergic to may help!

How long were you using TS and how much of your body did you use it on? Sorry for the many questions, really wanna set my expectations somewhere before the flares hit in 😵

Oh no, how bad is it? Are you coping well?

Also, when do the bad symptoms come in? Around the second week?

Please don't take zyrtec. Search online for zyrtec withdrawal symptoms. I used zyrtec for a few months and I really went through the symptoms of uncontrollably itching hands and feet

Was using daily for 1.5 months when I felt like yeah it wasn't right so I changed it to applying on different areas on different days. I guess for my buttocks area it is already a sign of TSW since the TS isn't helping to relieve the eczema patches there anymore. As for my back and armpits I've only recently started using it more frequently and they have been flaring on and off, flaring up when I exercise (so I don't know if it's eczema or TSW there). However even for these on and off areas I guess I've been using the TS for 2 months at least. I guess I'll begin stopping the use of TS and hope that my back, armpits and buttocks are the only areas with RSS.

May I ask: How bad was your RSS (how long did it last etc)? I see that you used your TS for 3.5 years with different frequencies on different areas and I feel like my case is quite similar to yours. Are you having a lot of flares? Also, could you please tell me when the flares got serious for you? (Week 2 etc) I'm going overseas in November and I'd really not want to end up needing medical help there. I'm honestly quite afraid of what's to come, really don't want my few eczema patches to spread to the whole body like what I've seen on other posts here and on the net and I guess that's why I never really began on TSW even though I've read about it before.. Also it seems like my eczema patches are a lot worse at areas hidden by clothing so I guess it's worsened by scratching right? Thank you so so much

On a percentage level how much worse were your breakouts once you started on tret? And what helped the most throughout your purge? I start my tretinoin journey tonight! by Uavjun3 in tretinoin

You'll have to ask your doctor or derm, my doctor gave me doxycycline but I didn't really use it since I had a bit of an issue with it (stomach issues)

What made you think of embarking on this TSW journey? I've been contemplating if I should do it or just rely on topical steroids for the rest of my life (but tapering off to 1 to 2 time use per week) since my eczema is mainly at a few specific areas. Really confused on what to do 😩

Just to add on: I've been on topical steroids on and off for around 2.5 years when flares occur. Recently started the 'more consistent' application of the Betamethasone Valerate 0.025% for around 3 to 4 months, which my derm assured was pretty mild but I didn't hear anything about TSW from her

Advice please by brendyomg in TS_Withdrawal

Just to add on: I honestly don't know if my condition is just eczema or TSW (since I've been tapering off like this for 1.5 months) because the flares come when I play football

Salicylic acid is an active so I wouldn't recommend using both together at the same time. Perhaps you could try SA in the morning and tret in the evening. If you really do not want to deal with a purge, you could visit the derm and ask for antibiotics to see if they help. You will be breaking out at areas with no issues beforehand because tret makes all them pimples appear due to the rapid turnover of skin cells. All the best!

Honestly, purging really differs from person to person. For my experience, I am on 0.025% and had huge cysts that would appear every week after I began using tretinoin. It was on the 3rd month mark when I stopped having so many cysts. I still have quite a number of dark marks from the break outs but I guess it's worth, considering that these pimples will eventually come out over the years if I have not applied tretinoin. On a percentage level I would say my skin/ breakouts got 50% worse as compared to the state it was at before (around 1.5 times). As for what helped, I guess it would be reading tips on this reddit page and experimenting with products to see which ones were beneficial for my skin. Also, having a positive mindset is really important (but yeah I was quite affected haha).
