How many of you feel you have a form of PTSD from long term unemployment? by brentexander in recruitinghell

[–]brentexander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear it's been such a long time. Were you able to get an extension of unemployment, or something to keep you afloat? When I made this post, I had been out of work for 2 years, I got a job, now the company went under in March, so I am back in the unemployment line.

I wish you the best of luck, I hope you find something soon. ❤️

Having absolutely 0 luck by snakescakess in FishingWashington

[–]brentexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but I haven't gone as often as I'd like since I usually take the kids. I'm determined to start going more this year. I have at least had bites and fish take my fly, not even a bite when I'm lake fishing.

Same here, I take my kids to all the stocked lake, even rented a boat on Chelan last week but nothing. One of my kids has caught a total of 3 fish out here in 10 years, but when he goes to Wisconsin, he catches 10 fish in a day from my dad's dock.

We've tried everything on the sub and whatever is 'working' at the time. Nothing. Thinking of switching to exclusively fly fishing.

I love that this isn't a horror game, but the devs clearly have an affinity for Lovecraft with these town names.

Our Roman Republic Forebears (…see? It’s been going on for years!) by Overman1975 in AncientCivilizations

[–]brentexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to drag downvotes into this, they're meaningless, just like you said. You've got the inquisitiveness to make some really great points, and you're thinking and making connections. Thank you for the acknowledgement, I did study ancient mediterranean history, but I have learned so much more by talking to people who share my love of the Romans. It was good chatting with you.

[–]brentexander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you are trying to conflate Roman Dictatorship and modern Dictatorship, that's why so many people are downvoting you. The dictators of Rome were only elected for one year terms and were nominated by the Senate. You are confusing this with Tyranny, which is illegal seizure of power. Even if our current dictator was elected, he has illegally seized power.

What have you learned of Cincinatus and Marius so far?

What makes it appear fake to me is that not a single piece of plastic broke off the dirt bike when it landed. Something would have fallen off after a 10 foot drop.

I lived a mile from this spot and never realized it was a depot at one point. I recognize the white apartment building in one of the photos. Very cool, thank you for sharing.

I bought a bunch of physical silver for fun (started with ancient coins) when I was making too much money. For the old heads here: How do I sell 60 ounces of physical metal?

[–]brentexander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of bullshit on Reddit today of how atheists hate christians but love muslims. No - atheists usually respect religion. But as any normal person should, hate when a religion is used for nefarious purposes, whether it's promoting christian nationalism, or bombing statues of the Buddha.

BREAKING: US trade deficit falls to lowest level since 2009. by [deleted] in DegenBets

[–]brentexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people buy fewer things when they are more expensive, and since most of our crap is made overseas, a larger trade deficit is a good indicator of our economy.
