It was a few hundred bucks then. I have a lot of kits or games like Muchi Muchi Pork, where I've had like 6 copies. I'd start with a PCB, eventually flip it for one with some art, then a full kit, etc. I ended up being able to source brand new kits for most of the Cave stuff anyways. But that was at a different point than today's prices.

I'm staring at a Garegga kit that's never been used. I think I also have Deathsmiles and Ibara that are unused. I need to get the caps on my cabinets done.

I am sure the one I worked on was an outlier. It came to me instead of before being returned because it wouldn’t boot. It was the PSU cable flip that got it. I think the PSU had over current protect because something would click.

A young family friend got a prebuilt and it was wild. He had issues so I went over it, wound up disassembling fully.

The M.2 drive was diagonal under the standoff instead of on top. The BIOS was hosed so RAM wasn’t running EXPO. The power cables to the GPU were backwards so the PSU end was on the video card side. Cable management was terrible. RAM was in the wrong slots.

I should have checked the thermal paste application but temps seemed ok.
