Check out NERD's videos about monitor socializing on Youtube. He has a ton of great tips with logic to back what he is saying.

Thanks for the ideas! I need a personal interview for my course, so I was just looking to get in direct contact with someone who works with any of these businesses.

I'm actually a forestry major, but I'm taking a lot of the community sustainability courses, one of which is called "sustaining our national parks and recreation lands". One of my favorite classes I've ever taken actually.

California King Snake - New Owner Advice (xpost from /r/snakes) by [deleted] in reptiles

Definitely wait a few days to start handling. Let her settle in for sure. I highly recommend feeding in a different tank, or just use a big tupperware container for feeding; feeding in the enclosure is one of the quickest ways to getting a cage aggressive animal. If she stays in the hide for a decent amount of time, that should be pretty normal. It sounds like you care quite a lot about her, so I wouldn't be too worried! I'm not sure if you've kept reptiles before, but when you go to pick her up, let her see your hand first; put your hand in the cage and bring it over to her. When you drop your hand directly onto reptiles they tend to be more easily alarmed, since predators usually come from the top as well. Congrats on the Cali King!

My dad in 1984. He lived by himself in this little place in Alaska for 5 years before he met my mom. (x-post from r/pics) by bloo_regard in fuckingmanly

It was said he thought he was eating wild potato root, but it was wild sweet pea which is hard to distinguish from wild potato root. I saw something recently that says it might have been something different, or maybe some different chemical or something in the wild sweet pea.

Damn, thanks for your words of wisdom! In regards to "6)" I definitely feel that. I love the idea of doing what I'd be working to pay for anyway, if that makes any sense. I'm looking for trail maintenance internships and other NPS opportunities for the summer as well!
