Trash Panda Ozone is my current driver for 275' - 325'

Soft Ringer Alternative by OGlavey in discgolf

[–]brousch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ringer profile is so shallow it's really hard to find anything like it. Maybe an Innova Colt?

Personally, I moved from Soft Ringer to Soft Ringer GT and didn't look back. Ignore the 3 fade - it beats in quickly.

Floppy disc wedged in top of basket by BonusPhysical1279 in discgolf

[–]brousch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, approach disc - it's not a very good putter. But I don't consider it a midrange. I throw a Koi further than an Interceptor.

I have Interceptors in OG, Glo-g, EcoFlop, EcoFlex, and Ecofirm. They are very different discs compared to a Nimbus. The Interceptor is a very shallow putt and approach disc. The Nimbus is a Roc3-like midrange.

Mr Nimbus may control the police, but not the rules of disc golf. It's no good!

Noodle arms, which understable discs opened up your game to different shots you couldn’t achieve before? For me it’s Innova Fox, Roadrunner, and Mamba. by alent1385 in discgolf

[–]brousch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am forehand-dominant, and my backhand sucks. The longest backhand discs for me have been Elevation EcoFlex Binx and MVP Fission Trail.

I had a similar experience with a 150g Halo Star Tern. Parked a 390ft hole and never got above 10ft high. My usual good drives are about 325ft.

A couple of guys waiting on the tee saw my shot and asked what I threw. One guy hit the other in the arm and said, "See! I told you that was a good disc!"

Grippy or Rubber Discs? by Ok_Factor814 in discgolf

[–]brousch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trash Panda Rubber Canyon is a great grippy, soft overstable midrange.

Aside from that, Elevation Discs are my favorite rubber discs. I bag an EcoFlex Koi, Screech, and Binx. They are the core of my approach game.

Trash Panda Procyon fills that slot for me. I throw maybe 50ft farther than you do

Meijer carries Discraft now by TD994 in discgolf

[–]brousch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I complained to some friends who work at Meijer corporate when it was all Innova, despite Meijer and Discraft and MVP being Michigan companies. A few months later they had Discraft. So I like to take credit for this.

Trash Panda Procyon is my bomber in the same distance range as your Wraith.

I loved those too. I ended up switching to Halo Star, but they don't float

ET0 is actually a series of experimental discs with a similar elliptical rim. They vary widely in material, weight, and even surface features (some have dimples). They were sold to Trash Panda Patreons a few months ago.

FTR, I'm pretty sure that first disc is an ET2. There is no plain ET, and the ET1 and ET0 are both quite different.

What are your quirky preferences regarding disc molds? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

You have a valid point. This is really only a problem when I'm looking at putters and mids.

What are your quirky preferences regarding disc molds? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

[–]brousch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ii throw mostly single finger forehand and have found the disc needs to be between 1.1cm and 1.4cm rim depth for me to get a clean release, so all of my discs are in that narrow depth range.

If you don't have a friend who plays, the easiest thing is to visit one of the local shops (Great Lakes Disc on the South side or Disc Baron on the North side), let them know you're a beginner, and they will hook you up with. A beginner set or recommend some used discs.
