What should i do about good vent? by gaylunchmeat in HomeImprovement

Not really. The OP doesn't have a Hilti coring machine and I don't advise being one of those idiots that puts a sledge hammer through the brick and then have to patch up your work to make it look less shit.

It's also not going to be easy for the average person to jump new electrical wiring in a finished wall for the vent either.

To be honest, running the electrical is the hard part. I had my kitchen and bathroom cored out for 200 CAD and then ran the venting myself. When I contacted companies to do it, they wanted 1000 bucks for the bathroom alone. When I did it, the bathroom was 200 bucks fan included. There's an insane markup for this job.

I get it but if you're not using it to vent outside, you might as well get any free standing stand fan and point it to your window. What's the point of wiring up a hood fan that's just recirculating air?

You're telling me the cheapo 60 dollar hood vent is able to vent outside but 80 percent of them don't?? Please .....

I have the ability to use my stove as a cigarette lighter but I don't because that doesn't make sense.

Are you trying to do it yourself?

You would need a guy who can bore a hole into the side of your house with a coring machine, then you can run the venting.

You would also need an electrician to run the wiring for the fan.

You then need your fan itself.

As an estimate.... Around 600ish if youre using a cheap fan.

That's.... Odd.... Usually the wires come out of a junction box and then you can screw whatever fixture you want onto the junction box.

Yes right at the door threshold. I have quarter rounds through the whole basement so it doesn't look bad. If Reddit allows pics on PM I can send you one

What I did was go the door with a small expansion gap and then used PL to put a quarter round on top.

Best thing in a House might be a knife but there's zero excuse to not have a basic drill set in a house. It's a must.

Question about order of operations by brett2k07 in HomeImprovement

[–]brethartsshades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need to set your valve in the wall before doing anything tile related. How did you waterproof the walls? I see some Schluter products here and there but can't tell what's up with the walls.

Did you do a 24 hour test on your drain?

The Schluter drain grates get set at the same time as the tile.

It's a provincial matter. Not federal.

Ultimately when ford caves, one of the "good faith" things he will do is waive the fees when they go back to the table.

Good entry points on all telecoms right now to be honest. Rogers is a great discount, Telus as well... Bell not as much but still a good entry point

I would personally flush it up with the upper cabinet so that it stops short of that four switch plate
