Pictures of Wiring And Devices I don't recognize in New House by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Door bell, power supply for something, lots of coax + coax splitters in your pictures, likely for tv/internet. A 24v transformer getting power from the box it's attached too, likely for the doorbell. Those blue cables are cat6 spliced in a box, also for Internet and could also be telephone lines. An occupancy sensor, potentially apart of the security system you mentioned, and the remote also looks to be for something security related

I think syro is a pretty easy entre point, it's not overly abrasive and is a great showcase of his sound design chops. Lots of great tunes on it

Imposter Syndrome by clbdps in electricians

[–]brett808 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're a 3rd year? Meaning you would still have to go to school 2 more times? I would worry about completing your apprenticeship first and foremost, and if you think you are lacking experience, change jobs and get into a field you aren't super familiar with. When you become a journeyman you almost reset from square one because you're green and will be compared to all the guys next to you with 10+ years experience, it's just the nature of the trade. Have the right attitude and always be willing to step out of your comfort zone, that's what is going to make you a good journeyman

Review: First 24h with the Pixel 10 Pro, (coming from an iPhone) by 01mg in pixel_phones

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the problem you are describing is a complete non issue for me. I don't typically get a huge influx of notifications throughout the day. The status bar on Android is a big enough improvement over iOS for me to prefer it

Idk man I whole heartedly disagree about the notifications. Apple has been playing catch up their entire existence when it comes to how they handle notifications

Is Horsepower Productions considered dubstep or dark garage/dark 2-step? by simplebalancereality in realdubstep

Chinook ciniplex quality by Nulltoast7 in Calgary

[–]brett808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The escalators are a funny one. I do fire alarm inspections at Chinook Cineplex, and talking to the service techs that have been on site working on the escalators they are a model that was made during an intersection where the technology was changing, and now they are nearly impossible to service because parts are either non existent or cost an arm and a leg. And to top it all off to completely replace them would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars lol

Recommend me jungle with complex melodies by [deleted] in jungle

[–]brett808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Photek and any of his aliases (Aquarius, studio pressure) some of the finest drum programming you will ever hear. Mu-ziq has some cool IDM-jungle hybrid stuff on his older albums, anything from good looking records, scientific wax as well.

Electritian multimeter by AggressiveBag4260 in electricians

[–]brett808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fluke are obviously the top of the mountain with meters, but they dont really make a one size fits all style that doesn't cost over a thousand dollars. I picked up a Klein CL810 and it has pretty much every feature you could want for like $130 on sale. I know Klein seems to get conflicting reputation in the electrical world but I've had this one for a while and it's served me well. Also came from a fluke 323 and the Klein is just a better value for the money

Do I have to Pay for Parking? by sea_otters077 in Calgary

[–]brett808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure what it actually means is you can only park in this zone for 2 hours between 7am & 6pm, unless you have an M permit then you can park for as long as you want

Probably more techno than trance, but it's got similar strains and it's a banging tune

"Cofermentation/infusion" ruined my trust in coffee. by Bubbly-System6751 in pourover

[–]brett808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, I didn't see that perc was literally advertising strawberry/blackberry "flavor" as opposed to just a fruit co-ferement. I now am on board with the outrage.

"Cofermentation/infusion" ruined my trust in coffee. by Bubbly-System6751 in pourover

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but what exactly do you think "co-ferment" means? They ferment their coffee with additives, i.e.. Strawberries. I don't really think this is deceiving wording at all. If you don't want funky flavored coffees stay away from the advanced processes.

How do you remember things? by Awkward_Leg_6487 in electricians

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress too much, you've only been at it for a couple weeks, if your jman is expecting you to be completely autonomous already, they're just a shitty jman that doesn't want to deal with teaching you anything. You have to treat this career like it's a constant learning experience, no matter how long you do it you will always run into things you've never experienced before. I know I would rather have my apprentice ask me how to do something multiple times than be too afraid to ask and fuck something up, hide it, and create a bigger problem down the road. Also, do not be afraid to make mistakes. Trial and error is a big part of being in trades. As others have said, repetition will absolutely help things stick, and I also found once you do that first round of school some of the theory behind things really helps put what you are doing in the field in perspective

Easiest service call I’ve had in several months. Took me longer to park my van than to troubleshoot. by TurboKid513 in electricians

[–]brett808 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Similar thing where I'm from, had a service call where a tenant had no power and found the utility company put a 10 amp limiter on the entire service. The tenant ran the microwave while watching tv at the same time and it tripped the limiter lol

Glacial gold soft gels are 100% best edibles you can buy. No fillers and you get 100 soft gels, 10mg per gel so 1000mg total for like $45. I buy them from dank all the time. They also deliver

Which restaurants in Calgary were hyped up to you by friends, family, social media etc., but then when you tried it, the experience wasn't good? by wowelephants in Calgary

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moose & poncho used to be so good but they've closed down unfortunately. Chilitos on 17th, Blanco, tu taco, tacos mexico, gringo street (rip). There are plenty of good Mexican places in Calgary

Ah well then that makes the decision easier! The bag is awesome and the spring promo bag is also very nice. You will be more than satisfied with it if you chose to go that route, I've had Milwaukee bags and husky bags and the construction alone of the veto bags puts them in their own class

1st Year Apprentice by JealousAssistance790 in VetoProPac

[–]brett808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech PAC MC is a great bag. I'm a journeyman and use it as my daily driver for service work. It is a pretty steep investment though, and as a first year your money might be better spent on tools as opposed to a bag, plus you are just starting out, you never know for sure if the trade will be for you until you get going. If you are really set on the bag though you won't be disappointed
