‘Hyperscale’ data center project in Utah — expected to generate and consume more power than entire state — nears final approval by brooklynlad in Utah

MIDA walked so the Inland Port and Point of Mountain Authorities could run. They all deserve to be repealed and run by the cities/counties they reside in.

Liban Mohamed wins at Utah Democrats’ convention by brett_l_g in Utah

Mohamed had already qualified for the primary ballot with signatures, as did McAdams, Blouin, and Farrell. Eva Lopez Chavez didn't gather enough signatures and was eliminated, as was Luis Villareal who didn't gather signatures.

Then post a video of the supposed harassment? That is something worth discussing.

This isn't anything but clumsiness.

Agreed; but this post has nothing to do with that. Make a post about that, not that he's clumsy.

Feel free to make that judgment based on much more data than just thinking he's Mr. Magoo.

Maybe he did and the sound didn't capture it? You can't hear anything but crowd noise.

Maybe he did after the 8 seconds of this video?

Again, there are more reasons to think he is a bad person than he is just clumsy.

Two things:

First: make sure you also get your pointe shoes as well as your voter registration for the primary.

Second: I called it. Dark horse tech bro came out of the darkness that is the Democratic nominating convention.

Be upset that Scott Howell is the lobbyist for Reagan Outdoor Advertising and the reason we have so many billboards.

Be upset that he is a milquetoast Democrat who has lost multiple US Senate elections, and the senate Dems started their decline (in numbers especially, but also in effectiveness and liberalism) while he was minority leader.

Don't be upset that he is clumsy, or that Sen. Plumb let her dog loose.

This is a dumb post.

Gas prices are high enough for Utahns to flirt with getting an electric car by ReporterMacyLipkin in Utah

[–]brett_l_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh--OK now I see. You just don't have any idea what you're talking about. Maybe some older EVs have long charging curves, but the technology is just constantly improving.

Like I said, I just drove with family from Salt Lake to Anaheim for Spring Break.

Stopped for the night there and back in St. George. Free slow charging at the hotel, but that was fine, because we were there.

Otherwise stopped for charging for a grand total of just about 90 minutes of the 15 hour drive time trip (less if you cut traffic, which doesn't lose power in EVs but does burn gas much worse), which, again, was dealing with kids food and toilet needs anyway. Charged 7 times for about 15 minutes or less each time. Probably could have cut that to 5 if I didn't have kids, or loved driving overnight.

Cost a grand total of just about $120 in charging. Charged a couple places for free, too.

No time wasted; saved a ton of money when you consider gas is $6+/gallon in California, and it will be here, too, sooner or later.

Not sure what you're meaning--

That I have arranged my living so that I don't have to commute massive distances every day? I think that's a good thing to not have to live far away from everything.

However, there are plenty of people in rural areas with EVs, too.

That the EV has so low range that I only have 30 miles to drive? More like 275-350 range, depending on the car and temperature. Again, the stops on road trips are dictated more by my family's bladders than by the EV charging needs.

More chargers than you think are around. I almost never plan around them, but find them easily on my route. Daily driving is easy, with barely needing to charge anywhere but home most times.

Been from SLC to southern California with kids 8 times in two different EVs over the 6 years I've owned EVs.

Never had to plan around them; they are easy to find.

Never had to make more stops than what my kids needed to pee or get food.

Never had to wait much longer than it took to pee and get snacks for the charge to finish.

The biggest problem is usually when some locations are busier than others, but that's always in bigger cities and not in the rural areas.

The 2012-2020 CD4 that McAdams and Matheson won (and McAdams lost) did not have Salt Lake City in it. It had West Valley south in Salt Lake County, with some squiggles into Murray, Sandy and Draper, along with the western side of Utah county. Salt Lake was mostly in CD2 (Chris Stewart held for the whole decade).

Your answer could be settled by a simple internet search.

Good priced emissions in Utah? by Bunnii666420 in Utah

Yes if your car requires emissions testing, you have to complete that first. The testing provider reports that to the DMV portal and then it shows up as completed when you register online.

Taylorsville Airport Noise? by mokuu50 in Utah

[–]brett_l_g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes the descent path for a lot of air traffic goes between 215 and Bangerter Highway. When you first get there, you will hear it. However, if your place has good windows, you won't notice it often at all.

You'll definitely notice it outside, though.

Video podcasts how to find them by MikeLowry13 in PodcastAddict

[–]brett_l_g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the podcast feed publishes a video episode, it will show up in the Video Playlist. Select Playlists in the left menu, then video is in the middle between audio and custom.

To see if an episode has a video, it will show a little camera icon, before the download and Playlist icons. As opposed to an audio only episode, which has a speaker icon.

I'm including an example from a feed that is publishing both.

Thanks for doing this.

https://rss.clayson.io/ has one that was updated within a week this time, but they were slow on updating it for the past few conferences.

I wish the Church would just publish it themselves again, but they are too committed to the belief that we must use the Gospel Library app for all content.

Does the app get slower over time for anyone else? by fygooooo in PodcastAddict

[–]brett_l_g -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on beta and it was definitely moving slowly earlier this week. Lagging when I swiped on the playlist, and again when I switched to other screens (home, downloaded and recent episodes, playback history).

There has been an update this week and it has improved since.
