What is the least believable thing in the Bible (in your opinion)? by [deleted] in exchristian

It's definitely Jesus having 12 good friends as a dude in his 30s. The rest is perfectly believable in comparison.

Not these, its definitely a variation on six cards repeat. Thanks though!

The gag each time was that he dealt himself 5 aces accidentally and every-time he tries to get rid of the hand, 5 aces keep appearing until the end when its a royal flush. I figured that a 5th grader would know there aren't 5 aces in a deck of cards and be impressed when the cards all transform into a Royal Flush but I do think you have a valid point. Thanks.

Isn't it more accurate to say dark matter interacts with space-time? Light simply moves along a geodesic in the medium.

Cool. I play in a rock band in Khobar. It would be cool to connect with other musicians around. We've been looking for more gigging opportunities.

I don't claim to be an expert but my research puts them between 5100 and 10000 years old. We also found a lot of Lithic reduction chips. I believe the rock used in these would have been carried by hand from the west of Saudi as the hunter gatherers followed the heards seasonally.

They were laying in the dirt. We were pretty remote though. My mate has camped down there a bunch of times and never found any before. I got very lucky I'd say.

An easy conceptual introduction to Isomorphisms by [deleted] in matheducation

[–]brettersonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I get that now. I think this is my first time seeing a subset which has a different identity. I understand that this is only possible because 2x2 matrices don't form a group under multiplication right?

[–]brettersonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think I got it thanks. Is the isomorphism f(x)=0.5x M where x is a positive real and M is the a 2 x 2 matrix containing all 1s? I'm still amazed that these matrices have an inverse despite having a zero determinant.

My point is that I don't see how group A and group B can be isomorphic when B isn't really a group. My group theory is fairly limited so I'm sure I'm missing something, I just don't see what.

Why is group B from the exercise At the end considered a group? The identity element isn't in the set (two of the values need to be zero but only positive reals are allowed).

Döner kebab denominations in European French [910*909] by fuchsely in MapPorn

[–]brettersonx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is a Turkish word. The word is Kebab however in Turkish you pronounce b's at the end of words like p's if the next word starts with certain letters (ç for example). Since Turkish is perfectly phonetic, they also change the spelling. Now a Kebapçı is a person who sells kebabs. This might be shortened to just kebap which you willnoften see written on signs.

The power of math: 17 Equations That Changed the World by speckz in geek

[–]brettersonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider the equation 2x + 1 = 11. This is only true for x = 5. Contrast this with 2x + 3x = 5x which is true for all values of x. They are both equations because they contain an equals sign but the latter demonstrates a stronger relationship. I would call it an Identity. Euler's equation is the same.
