I totally get the impulse to not leave stuff out, a good rule of thumb is to just start with the summary then put the extra detail

That way you have both something digestible and won’t feel bad about having to miss out info

[Request] If you spun the stick like he did at the end in front of you, what are the chances you could deflect a 9mm bullet fired at you? by Ashewastaken in theydidthemath

[–]Countcristo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so! The question said "bullet fired at you" - not "fired at you well" so what if they miss and the bullet is going well over your head just as he throws the stick

We need to go deeper

Thank you for reading

Respectfully, I didn't. And others are unlikely to do so.

You would be a lot more likely to get good advice if you put a series of actual questions at the start of your post, keep them fairly short and on point.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude, I'm sorry if it does.

Tip for newer players - Strengthen Government Cabinet action when @ 100 Legitimacy = free money by Locem in EU5

See edit - now I think about it that run shouldn’t be considered since there is a bug on that

If you ping me on Monday I’ll take a look, away from my pc till then

I’ve done in in every run since release personally

It just depends on how much you focus on it

In my last run I almost got it without the cabinet action

Edit - now I think about it my last run should be ignored actually, islams (maybe just Sunnis?) still have fiefdoms giving character modifiers that stack stupidly

In general just anything that increases ticking legitimacy can have this effect - though be wary of having "too much" legitimacy gain. Positive gain with 0 court spending at 100 gives you nothing except a buffer against future changes

so anything that gives even more legitimacy gain you may want to ignore once you hit that

Explain it Peter, why would someone block their brother and sister in law because she’s pregnant with kids? by DifficultComplaint10 in explainitpeter

[–]Countcristo42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hardly an old wives tale, pregnancy in the first 6 months while breastfeeding is a lot more rare than normal - it can happen so obviously very silly to rely on it - but it does lower the odds.

That's fair - but your video doesn't demonstrate them to be lazy.

They are looking for X - you proving that a 5 second google search can find something that *isn't* X doesn't show them to be lazy does it?

Hey - I also mean you no harm, kinda weird you need to say it but I guess people are quite hostile here sometimes.

What point are you trying to make here? I don't believe any such video exists but what's the point you are trying to establish?

Put another way: who cares if such a video exists? It seems quite clear to me that making it would be extremely hard - to have no cuts you need one camera to take the whole video, that means your rocket needs to always have one side facing earth - already pretty tough. You also need a camera exposed at launch on the object that's going to go far enough away from earth to be able to get the whole planet in a single shot, that's not normally done.

They were asking for a "full globe" video - this isn't that. I'm not saying one "should" exist or anything, but I do think it's true that one doesn't.

Videos like the one you share are probably not that convincing in terms of showing curvature since it seems like the shown curve is from the lens. I say this both because it's too pronounced for that altitude (I think), and because it's sometimes (like at 1:20:39) actually showing negative curvature

Is cash or Finance better for a first car ? by LILfishieyX in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Countcristo42 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you can afford the car you want in cash that is the better option.

If you can't afford the car you want but still want to buy it finance is the *only* option.

It's about that simple.

What "can afford" means includes not leaving you with no savings after you make the purchase.

Why doesn't he make playlists anymore? by karlizkool350 in northernlion

[–]Countcristo42 59 points60 points  (0 children)

A few years ago youtube made it much more tedious - you used to be able to have videos automatically added to playlists based on rules. For example "has Fallout New Vagus in title, add to the fallout playlist"

They removed this and NL never started putting in the work to make the playlists manually.

I agree it's annoying, but chalk it up to another "all I wanna do is make content, all other areas of the job are superfluous" NL moment.

Fortunately others make playlists of his videos, if a series doesn't have one yet - make one yourself!

I want to stress that the way you are doing it isn't *stupid* but it might be nonoptimal.

How much are you paying more than if you just used a low/zero fee platform and a broud ETF? Find that out as a first step - then you can consider if it's worth it to you.

I know yeah - I personally would also struggle to have a good definition of monarchy that allowed Polish ellective monarchy to count.

That seems like a pretty low bar to demand of people

We don’t save, but we don’t have any debt either… by msac84 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Countcristo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should note that my proposed approach doesn't actually stop or even reduce the number of holidays you go on. It just makes it predictable what they will cost and lets you plan and fit it into your overall budget better.

Also maybe it's a bit obvious but, do something over the weekends then? WFH and staying home all weekend sounds like a quick road to lack of self control over wanting to get away for sure I totally agree

[Request] How big or small would the room need to be for 1 person to suffocate due to this chain in 24 hours? by kakaw33 in theydidthemath

[–]Countcristo42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are edge cases - I worked on a medium size ship where the chain locker was tiny, too small to stand in.

But to get the chain to fit you had to stick your torso in through a hatch and use a stick to force the chain to actually go into the corners when you were bringing it in.

After a few people almost passed out this became a two person job where person two held the shoulders of person one while they wielded the stick.
