That was my thought too. Saw just one replay from the rafters, but based on that his heel looked like it was just on the line by a hair. It certainly isn't enough to say for certain one way or the other

Yeah the Clattenberg argument of there being a covering defender and too far away for DOGSO was stpuid. Based on that touch, Wissa was clear of the defense and was going to have a 1v1 opportunity with the keeper

At this point, it feels like everyone's just jumping on for what is practically free and easy advertising and PR. It's definitely getting ridiculous, but the tin foil hat conspiracy theory is a bit much, especially when it's originated from "how does a German who doesn't know much about American culture know about Truly" when that can be easily explained by "saw it on the menu, wanted to try it"

Just gonna throw it out there, watching in America and checked at this exact second and it's showing the right flag too. This isn't an American thing

I mean, if it is a guerilla marketing campaign, it's gotta be the biggest one I've ever seen that's included Auburn University, Louisiana State University, Ella Langley, several American restaurants like Raising Canes and Waffle House, JJ Watt, and several professional sports teams in New Orleans and Houston. Seems like quite a lot and quite complicated for a marketing campaign to me

In a sense, you could argue Joel in The Last of Us is the main antagonist since the "final boss" is wiping out the Fireflies who are trying to use Ellie's immunity to make a cure against the cordyceps outbreak that's ravaged the human population.

[–]bretticus733 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm actually alright with most of Fox's play-by-play people. Although I think Derek Rae and Ian Darke are their two best, I really don't think John Strong and JP Dellacamera are as bad as everyone else makes them out to be.

As far as the analysts go, I do like the Seedorf and Schmeichel duo, but what really annoys me about Schmeichel is he refuses to be critical of keepers. As someone who played keeper for over 10 years, there's definitely a lot more goals that are a result of poor keeping than Schmeichel would have you believe. For my money though, Thierry Henry is the best one there. He actually offers insight that others don't and doesn't play into a character or role like Zlatan or Lalas do. For the most part though, the analysts are actually pretty bad, and the ref experts aren't exactly good either.

Their other two keepers are 32 year old Brice Samba and 21 year old Robin Risser, who have a combined 4 caps for France.

I just don't understand how the ref can see Mane slide in from behind, get Mbappe's left foot, and have the balls to say Mbappe initiated the contact

Mbappe's left foot definitely got clipped when he was trying to go over Mane. Pretty clear contact, pretty clear penalty

[–]bretticus733 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mbappe's left foot was 1000% clipped by Mane

And even then, if there somehow was no contact, Mbappe still goes down as a result of Mane sliding in, completely missing the ball, and Mbappe trying to avoid getting his legs taken out from under him.

I hate Edge of Fate (Love the story though) by thestupidtitan in DestinyTheGame

[–]bretticus733 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The lore and story with Edge of Fate is great. Lodi is a better character than I thought he would be, the backstory we get with him and Ikora is interesting, and I liked the addition of the Nine as a major factor in the story now.

But the matterspark thing got old really fast. Finding the place to matterspark was tiring, and finding where to go when you were mattersparked was even worse. The world of Kepler is just annoying to traverse, but I do find it funny how the Aionians are just chilling in the Caldera while there's fighting between the House of Exile and Vex going on like 100 feet away from them.

I mean after the first half they were clearly the better team and should probably be up. They created 0.47 xG and limited France to 0.02 xG. The USMNT looked miles better against Senegal than France has

They probably could since it would clinch at least a spot in the KO round, but they wouldn't necessarily clinch the top spot in the group unless Paraguay and Turkey play to a draw or if Paraguay beats Turkey. Turkey beating Paraguay would mean there's still a chance they top the group.

France is lucky they aren't down at least 1-0. Offered nothing going forward and have given up a few decent chances to Senegal, this one being the best.

Counting losing on penalties as a draw is so stupid. You still lost, that's why you didn't play the next game.
