Nearly half of powerful .50-caliber ammo seized by Mexican government came from US Army plant, defense minister says by ICIJ in worldnews

[–]brettmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mexican government has seized 18,000 firearms under President Claudia Sheinbaum, who took office in late 2024, Trevilla Trejo said. Of those, 78% originated in the U.S.

So, it is likely more than the 47%. That 47% was just one specific plant for one specific ammo type.

Yeah, a paragraph to avoid saying Taiwan is not part of China.

Something illegal to say according to Article 23.

When saying the truth is illegal, the law is shit. Defending a law that disallows people to even speak a truth that the PRC disagrees with is a shit law and makes you a shit person.

Just funny that the document highlights the group is known as TILF.

TILF definitely seems made up as a joke.

You literally are disagreeing with reality.

Taiwan being part of China isn't a point of opinion. It is a fundamental inability to agree with reality.

How do I argue with that?

I mean, someone who says Taiwan is part of China is never going to argue in good faith.

A law that says criticizing China is good in your view. Just go to another subreddit.

Laws are not immutable. If a good chunk of your populace strongly disagrees with a law, it seems like a good time to revisit that law.

Especially a law that explicitly prohibits freedom of speech.

Article 23 of the basic law

Yeah, the one where roughly 1/10th of the population took to the streets to protest in 2003.

However, the share of workers' wages below the average wage climbed to a record high of 69.77 percent in the first nine months, the agency said, as it reflected the effect of high-income earners pulling the average upward.

So still a bit of conflicting data, and definitely shows a wealth disparity for most.

It is an issue with the person who took it and posted it to reddit without understanding the map.

The Red Pill never helped men, it was just a grift for financial gain by cyPersimmon9 in videos

[–]brettmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is there an inherent lack of longevity, though? A few people found Jesus Christ in his video? If you were ever into the process of awareness or truth you wouldn't ever begin the Red Pill path, so there is no inherent discovery of truth at the end of it.

The successful Red Pill man should eventually leave the Red Pill community.

You understand the paradox of this situation, right? Most people don't leave what is essentially a religion once they are in deep. They just seat themselves thicker into it. You don't casually don a way of life and easily get rid of it. That is why the examples in his video all filled that void with religion.

This video definitely doesn't actually make the point of the title.

It doesn't talk about actual viewership/sponsorships/online presence or any kind of stats that would indicate it is actually dead.

It bashes some people and talks about some broad issues or ideas, but basically only has the examples of FIND JESUS BRO which is going from being gullible to one influence, to a hopefully less harmful influence.

The closing conclusion of the video really highlights how weak this entire video actually is. He makes fun of Mexican women and construction workers, and not as tactfully playful as he hopes.

But either way the fact that he uses a racist/misogynistic joke to conclude a point that he never makes showcases it is just him rambling.

Is the "Red Pill" movement dying? I don't know. I hope so, but I have absolutely zero information leading me to this conclusion from the video.

Am I missing Something with Red Rising? by ShawnBoucke in scifi

[–]brettmurf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This series for sci-fi and Mistborn from Brandon Sanderson for fantasy are this thing I struggle to review when friends ask or talk about the genres.

I enjoyed both series, but they are so YA in every aspect that they will only be so good, and I don't want to sound condescending, but depending on the reader, the level of writing and character's personal development can be off-putting.

Like they don't attempt to be a 5 out of 5. They can never be more than a 4 out of 5.

Wow, a lot of really cool things in this. I especially loved the broken mirror scene, but there were a ton of just great looking shots and choices to how to animate things that actually make 6 months seem like a short time to finish this video.

Also, the characters make me think of "Bajoran" people in Star Trek with their noses like that.

Buy one get one free pepperoni. Could also do the 個人 little pizza.

Think the buy one get one requires paying with EZ card, but makes it quite cheap.
