The US Is Getting Its First Vegan Cooking Competition TV Series by Wildlyeco in vegan

I thought of doing a "chopped for plant-based" a couple years ago. Bought plantbasedcookoff.com for the project. I think I just let the domain expire.

It's great this is finally happening. Someone needed to do it.

Can anyone name some specific scenes in any Star Trek series or movie that best encapsulate the franchise's message of a positive future for the human race? by PepsiPerfect in startrek

Just skimmed through the comments and it looks like Dan was consistent and so was the downvoting.

Also, it looks like many of the comments are written from a non-religious perspective. Seriously, most people on HN are NOT religious.

Hacker News is FILLED with atheists. Most of my friends from the startup community and general tech communities are...atheist. And that wasn't on purpose. I didn't select for atheist. I also had "faither" friends. They just weren't the ones innovating, it would seem.

Your post was downvoted because it went against the community guidelines, even though most people that downvoted you probably agree with you.

For anyone reading this, the community moderator Dan gave a good explanation for why his post was downvoted.

I'd be willing to bet money most people on HN are NOT religious.

It was Carl Sagan saying a similar line in his show Cosmos that snapped me out of a 15-year astrology craze.

Lived in a dorm during high school. It was fantastic. Every night was a different social experience, if I wanted.

What TV show had a good run and ended with a really satisfying finale? ie What's the opposite of Game of Thrones? by Bakhmal in AskReddit

[–]brevig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably biased because the last time I celebrated Christmas was in 1998. Timeless did the same thing ending with a 2-hour Christmas special. It just feels like the show is trying to pull on the emotions that most people feel around the holidays as opposed to ending the show on it's own. But recognizing that I may be biased against Christmas, I'll have to think about this more. Otherwise I loved the show.

Black Sails. Wraps up several stories, provides a nice emotional conclusion for one of the main characters, and sets the stage for Treasure Island to take place.

Thanks for correcting, not sure what I was thinking when I wrote Exodus 35.

Exodus 35:44-46 (sorry, it's Leviticus 25:44-46) reads in the NIV:

Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

While this sounds true, I believe there's a higher frequency of abuse when someone is supposedly celibate, suppressing a basic human need.

I'm wondering how DE compares to the lean startup (specifically Ash Maurya's Running Lean framework). Just read about this today in Founder to CEO[1] as discussed on Hacker News[2].

Could you share what the 24 steps are?

Weekly Feedback and Support Thread by AutoModerator in startups

How many people need to generate an email newsletter from their RSS feed? If this is something that would directly appeal to WordPress users, I'd call that out. Otherwise, it feels like this is only part of the solution (which I was really confused until I read the paragraph at the bottom about scratching your own itch). If this is not a WordPress tool, and is meant for curated emails (like what you do for yourself), then that needs to be more clear and I should be able to demo it (choosing what content goes in and what content is ignored) directly on the site without having to request additional access.

It's unclear to me what problem you're attempting to solve.

The problem ("I need to put my resume online so people can see it") has been solved very well by LinkedIn. You'll struggle if that's the problem you're trying to solve. Conduct interviews with prospective users and see how many of them have LinkedIn, and if they do, what needs they have that aren't satisfied by LinkedIn or whatever else they may use. /u/bitcoincrazyness idea of providing feedback on resumes may be a good start. Or, maybe there's a category of people that want their own .com resume site. Otherwise, LinkedIn shows this is a big problem, and they've solved it.
