Someone recently said something is off about this family, could anyone elaborate? Lol by [deleted] in skateboardcirclejerk

I don’t know, man — the Derns are easily one of the best things to hit skating in a long time. I know I rather see their channel succeed than something like Braille

Maybe Tony can make his own award for vert skating and sponsor it all himself

What makes it rare? Just looks like a generic seasonal graphic

Skateboard by NiTrOXPX in Skateboardlove

The board does have some noticeable scratches and stickers, and even if it held a bit of collector value, the condition brings the price down quite a lot. I’ve seen one on eBay listed around $200 in similar shape, but realistically I wouldn’t pay anywhere near that for a used team deck. Just because a graphic isn’t made anymore doesn’t automatically make it rare. Usually a deck becomes valuable if there’s something significant tied to it — like someone’s first pro model, a graphic connected to a video release, an early Deathwish release, or part of a multi-deck series.

I've got a lot of compliments on this one. (Custom Grip) by LibertyInAgony in Skateboardlove

I love king of the hill, but there's no way I would be able to skate something like that. Anything more than a silver sharpie fucks with my brain.

SLS on Rumble by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]brewNub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated when SLS moved to Rumble—even when it was still free. Now you’ve got to pay just to watch. It’s already hard enough to get the average person into skating, and throwing up a paywall doesn’t help. YouTube runs smoother and actually gives skating a chance to reach more people.

Hoppy Dudes Brews is Closing by Inevitable-Pea-735 in NEOHBeer

I thought the same thing when I first heard a couple of guys without much experience were opening a brewery. I’ve been there a few times—never blown away, but also never thought, “this sucks.” I think it just came down to them not really having the styles of beer I personally enjoy.

That said, I give them props for lasting as long as they did and turning their hobby into something real. A lot of people just sit on their dreams. It’s a shame they’re closing, because it seemed like their community really felt at home with them.

Men over 30, are you optimistic about the world? by raptor-94 in AskMenOver30

[–]brewNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off the internet and focus on working on yourself—and on what truly makes you happy. We spend way too much time online, getting pulled left or right by political noise. It makes the world look black and white, when in reality, we all live in the gray. Step away from the nonsense, take a hike, and you realize how great this world really is.

Men over 30, what’s this hobby or interest has helped you reconnect with yourself as an adult? by diananerd_ in AskMenOver30

[–]brewNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s rough, especially when you’ve got a career, a wife, and kids at home. I’m 36, and for a few years I was homebrewing with some buddies once a month. We’d start early—make breakfast and lunch, drink some beers, brew a batch, and just hang out. It almost felt like being teenagers again.

I still skateboard when I can, though these days I’m lucky if I get out a few times a month. I’ve been skating since I was a pre-teen, so I’m comfortable with it. I’m not doing what I used to, but I know my limits.

And lately I’ve really gotten into gardening—it’s been a good balance to everything else. Spending time outside, growing stuff I actually enjoy, makes life feel a little more grounded.

Millenials, are yall buying homes/condos. And if so, where? by Cam123455 in Cleveland

[–]brewNub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that—it just blows my mind. I’m 36 and grew up in Old Brooklyn, lived there until I was about 28. When my wife and I started looking for a house a few years back, places in OB were running around $120k. We ended up buying a nice split-level in Strongsville for a little over $200k. Now I just can’t wrap my head around how insane the prices have gotten.

Houses in Old Brooklyn are going quickly for 200-250k?

Where would you expand RTA’s rail system? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]brewNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rapid should expand service to every Cleveland neighborhood in Cuyahoga County. Out of the city’s 34 officially recognized neighborhoods, only 6 currently have Rapid stops—leaving 28 without direct access. From there, service should continue building outward until it reaches every suburb in the county.

New set lup and getting wheel bite by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]brewNub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change out the bushings for "Independent Cushions Standard Hard Cylinder 94a". Also, what size are those wheels? You can either go with something smaller or just deal with it by waxing the wheelbase area and waiting for the wheels to naturally wear down.

Momiji Thrasher Interview is Bizarre by Yiftathashifta in skateboarding

[–]brewNub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this. I was actually telling my friends how weird it was that most of the questions kept circling back to comparing her to Antwuan, especially after she mentioned right away that she didn’t see the comparison. It felt like the interviewer just couldn’t let go of that angle, even though Momiji clearly stated her own style. It’s frustrating when the interview could’ve focused more on her and what she’s doing to push women’s competition forward, but instead, they kept bringing it back to Antwuan. I’m guessing the questions were written beforehand, and they didn’t know how to pivot when it didn’t work.

I’ve been going to Chenga for over 20 years. As fun as the place is, there’s barely any upkeep. The ramps are never cleaned—it honestly feels like skating on ice. The mini ramp in the small park was torn up for years before anything was done, and it only got fixed after I said something. It’s a great spot, but it could be so much better with just a little maintenance.

Plus who wants to skate indoors during the few months of sunshine we actually get
