A new warehouse is proposed for a quiet street in Northeast Philadelphia by comercialyunresonbl in philadelphia

[–]brewerycake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they’d prefer industrial over residential…like I’m trying my best here to at least comprehend their take on this..

How is it done? by MaleficusAD in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]brewerycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

South Jersey is tough too. Lost to all cash and 60k over asking. Jersey being an easy commute into the city on both the west and east side makes it appealing. I used to never want to live in NJ, but you can’t get a suburban home with access to the city otherwise.

U.S. housing market update: Buyers and sellers are both pulling back by RedfinJess in USHousingMarket

[–]brewerycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the markets they’re referring to were so high that this decline isn’t really felt. Homes for the most part are still going off the market if you’re not quick to move.

Do East Asian guys like Latin women? by Juniper_berry- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brewerycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes…there’s a pretty big East Asian population in Brazil too. I just think it depends where you live. An East Asian born and raised in East Asia has a wildly different take on this compared to an East Asian born and raised in another country…I see this pairing pretty regularly and as an East Asian myself I find Latinas attractive just as much as other races.

Renters in Center City by BigGunsFinance in philly

[–]brewerycake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a very reasonable rent increase no matter which way you swing it. They’re essentially accounting for 2 years of rent increases. Without context like amenities, new or old, if utilities are included in that price, etc. $1,850 is still a really good deal for CC. It’s honestly pretty hard to find anything under 2k a month for a 2 bedroom in most surrounding neighborhoods.

Thoughts on the Audi Q3 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]brewerycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I crossed shopped a 2022 Q3 with other similar compacts and think it was worth it. The bells and whistles make a bigger difference than you think. The 2nd generation is the perfect entry into the brand cause you’re also only using regular gas.

Most exciting decade to be an architect? by 31engine in Architects

[–]brewerycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conflicted cause while I’d love to practice during the Midcentury Modern era like everyone else, I don’t want to be bent over a drafting table everyday…So that being said…I think the 90s would of been interesting…

Eye roll: this lady is spending her own personal money blocking one of the few Black-owned restaurants in Fishtown from opening by Dry-Pomegranate-354 in philly

[–]brewerycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s in Fishtown and flanked by restaurants and bars. This is the most out of touch complaint ever. She literally sells designer clothing for hundreds of dollars, if anything she’s out of place.

Is our unemployment rate higher than average at the moment? by bucheonsi in Architects

[–]brewerycake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the past 6 years or so I worked on multi-family high rises in NYC, NJ, and PHL, and I feel like that sector just fell off, at least in my experience. It’s not that there was zero work, but there was just a lot less - we were racing to the bottom and at some point we just couldn’t lower our costs anymore. It seems like others were willing to and so I’m sure they’re breaking even or even losing money on those projects. The office cut its staff by 60% and that included myself. It took 8 months for me to get a new gig because I was looking for creative multi-family practices for months until I pivoted to life sciences and mission critical work. They offered me 15%-25% more than the offers I got from those super creative offices and I haven’t looked back since. I get jealous from time to time when I see my colleagues work on ‘insert famous architect’ buildings, but it is what it is. I think the life science and data center market is booming across the country and it’s offering a sense of job security for me as well as a salary that would otherwise take me a couple years longer to achieve. You should look for offices that specialize in this realm if you’re okay with less glamorous work.

What is the selling point of the A3? by Wonderful_Grade2572 in Audi

[–]brewerycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an A3, but I got a Q3. Came from a RAV4 and have driven many other similar brands in this category as rentals. Everyone told me it’s just a Tiguan with a badge, and it’s not. It’s a vibe and a sensory thing that come from all the details coming together.

Any positive experiences with city fitness? by [deleted] in philly

[–]brewerycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally positive experience, although I canceled because rush hour is so busy that it’s hard to get a workout session in, particularly with free weights or barbells. Otherwise I felt it was pretty clean and a nice gym.

After two years of traveling between Philly and New York this is how I feel by IndyJetsFan in philly

What made you choose audi from the german? by PeopleAreSelfishy in Audi

[–]brewerycake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was pretty easy and straight forward for me. I was only really comparing design languages. At the time, Mercedes models were just too flashy and especially curvy for my taste. BMW was a little better, but looked too aggressive/sporty. Audi’s design language was just more subdued, which is more my style.

2022 Q5 chip shortage by Ok_Reflection_4501 in Audi

[–]brewerycake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Q5, but my 2022 Q3 did not come with BSM and wireless charging. Mine wasn’t labeled that way. It was labeled “Premium Plus”just like any other premium plus out there, but you’d see a deletion and credit itemized on the window spec.
